A interesting job from Mr. Manuel from Spain.
Much more at Manuel blog plastic-bbq.blogspot.com Question: Anybody had info about those tanks in the Eastern front?. German units?. Battles?. Performance?
Thanks in advance for your guidance. Amicalement Armand |

A battalion was used in the Crimea during 1942, IIRC. |

didn't they use them as flame throwing tanks for assaulting the forts around sevastopol? Very nice work indeed

Off the top of my head, it was 223 (or 233?) Schwere Panzer Kompanie which deployed with a dozen or so B1s modified as flame-throwers to Sevastopol, plus a few unmodified gun tanks presumably as commanders' vehicles and/or HE support. I think one of the other users was the SS Prinz Eugen in the Balkans. Other wise, main German use was as part of the garrison on the Channel Islands, where frankly the only use for tanks was as mobile pillboxes. |

Cor, impressed myself. Have dug out Chamberlain/Doyle/Jentz, and yes, they report 223rd Panz Komp took four Char B-2 (silly of me, course they would not have bothered with B-1s) gun tanks, plus 12 flame tanks, to the Crimea. And Prinz Eugen had seven in the Balkans. |

A Flampanzer B2(f)from the Prinz Eugen division was used to try to capture Tito (Op.Rosselsprung). |
