Hi all,

Can anyone with beta testing experience of these rules help me out please. I have started buying a Norman warband for them. I have bought a pack of 12 Norman knights from Conquest Games that are superb, I would like to buy some more….

However I don't even know that the Normans have cavalry in Saga? I am guessing that they would be in units of 4 as elite units? but perhaps with options for units of 8 lesser cavalry?

So does anyone have any clues as to whether Normans have cav in SAGA and how many, what quality. i.e. are they all elite chain mailed knights or is there an option for mounted saergent types that come in groups of 8 I believe?

This would give me an indication as to whether i should be buying more Norman knights or now. Although Conquest Games Normans are cheap and superb quality, I am a pretty good painter and they take a LONG time to paint so I don't want to paint a couple of dozen knights i can't use!!

Hello Andy,

The Normans in SAGA can have unarmoured mounted Warriors. As you guessed, one point gives you 8 of these warriors.

Of course, the Normans have also access to their famous mounted knights, but one point will give you 4 of these elite Heathguards.

We recommend in the rules to start with 4 points Warbands, the standard for experienced players being 6 points games. So depending on what you want to field in your force, your box might form the bulk of your warband.

Hope it helps

Thanks that is really helpful.

I might aim for 1 unit of 8 average troopers and 2 units of 4 elite troopers, the rest can be infantry, presumably mostly cheapo archers.

You do not happen to have any idea when SAGA will be available to buy do you??

Gripping Beast will have to confirm, but I think it will be during the second half of August.
