Do you have a favourite set of sci-fi minis with a cool camo/colour scheme? If so what are they and if possible include a photo? Rhys |
Pictors Studio | 20 Jul 2011 1:15 p.m. PST |
I think the Tau that were in the first rule book with the urban blue-gray-white colour scheme were pretty cool looking. |

Unfortunately, all the so called Sci Fi camo patterns are just modern or variation on modern camo. Here is 15mm Predator: |

@IGWARG1, I totally agree with that sentiment which is why I went with something a little different: link |

The Tau are my favourite race in the 40k world but I can't afford nor do I have the space for the GW and their finecast super prices for a lump of resin! Battletech have some really cool colour schemes! |
28mmMan | 20 Jul 2011 2:03 p.m. PST |
Rhysius those are some seriously bright colors! Nice. |
Rhysius Cambrensis | 20 Jul 2011 2:07 p.m. PST |
Lol they don't look nearly as bright under normal viewing conditions or as blobby! Honest! They look like more of a reddish pink on the table and it's quite effective! Even if I do say so myself! |

I loved the camo schemes in the Rogue Trader-era Badab War article. And someday I'm going to revisit this one: link

That paint scheme looks great! I really like it personally and definitely think you should stick with it! |

Would love to see these put into production too, if we could get side and top/bottom views of the vehicles. |
FingerandToeGlenn | 20 Jul 2011 4:11 p.m. PST |
My absolute favorite is usually found on Russian Sukhoi fighters: yellow and mud brown. I always think of it as "smog camo." |

@FingernadToeGlenn: This one?

I absolutely love those crabs, they are totally awesome!!! @PaintItPink- loving your work and your blog- if you like pink you might like this lol: link I really like the Sukhoi camo and was looking for a colour/camo scheme for my FCT vehicles and I think that will match the infantry nicely so thanks very much! That was actually the reason for this post- to get some ideas on paint schemes for the different factions for my Sci-fi project! The WW1 dazzle is awesome as well and Im gonna save that for another faction I have in mind- so thanks very much- everyone has been so helpful! Rhys |

Khaki cloth with medium gray armor. ie, Hammer's Slammers colors. Panzer gray armor with English Uniform cloth (and red NVG lenses). Feldgrau doesn't quite pop as well to my eyes. That's the scheme from Jin-Roh, and I'm using it on my Rebel Minis Titan Marines. If I really hate myself, multicam. US Field Drab base color, splashes of brown and green washes, speckles of German camo beige and chocolate brown. Using that on my ultramodern US forces in 15mm and any Ariadna troops with 'CH:Camo'. It actually paints pretty quickly if you use a toothbrush and spatter the camo colors. A simpler uniform is medium gray overall, with a sky gray crotch and dark gray plates, then blacklined. That's my new Yu Jing color scheme, but I stole it from Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex. |

I have a hard time with camo in the future, as we think we see it today. If you look at games like 40k there is very little in the way of camo. I think this is we just don't know what it will be. To me the camo in the future well not be any thing to look at, as it will hurt the eyes, or just plane old translucent, till it turns on. Now for gaming, I love just about all of what it out there. It is really the eye of the beholder, and every example is cool in its own right. Not the real test comes when you cant find you favorite mini on the table!!!! Who needs camo when you face an orbital barrage. Noel |
