What are your thoughts on using a rig like this as a timesaver for multiple dice rolls? I posted it on my blog: link One commenter said he wouldn't use it because he likes to roll the dice by hand; another commenter who had tried something similar said it was so noisy it distracted other gamers. What are your thoughts? |

It sure would speed things up and no confusion on what ship/unit you were rolling for. |

Though I like the idea and can see why it would save time / hassle and arguments I'm one for feeling / blowing / rattling / staring into space while wishing and rolling

I think it would work great for groups of monsters – you shakes the box, and then just go around the table, pointing to a monster and resolving the action with the next set of dice in the box. |

I'm another who would much rather be rolling the dice by hand. Neat idea, though! |

I haven't used this in a game yet, but in several test rattles, no cocked d10s. Due to the sheer sides and the plastic, I don't think there's much chance of getting a cocked die, even with a d6. |

I use lots of boxes like this. It keeps dice off the table. "Excuse me GM, is a D12 hard cover or soft cover?" I like to keep the table as devoid of markers, puffies, dice, soda cans, notebooks, etc as possible. Otherwise, why bother with all the nice terrain and minis in the first place? I've even re-structured charts to use 2 dice instead of buckets of them

I like the idea. I just might adopt it. |

I used to have a dice-dome made by gluing half of a Christmas tree decoration ball to a round wooden base; it had one white d6 and two black d6s inside so you could use it for 1, 2 or 3d6. Problem was we had a tendency to rattle it and then slam it down on the tabletop

Great idea. Try felt if they are too noisy. I have used small dice in the eggs you get out of vending machines. They work great. LLC aka Ron |

I love it! It reminds me of those MB 'pop-o-matic' board games. As somebody who builds complicated tables and forgets to leave a practical empty space for rolling dice and putting beer bottles, I can see immediate benefits to this. I now I have a use for that spare box in the loft

Bonkers. I'm having none of it. |
