Which rulesets do you desperately wish someone would organize a tournament for in your local area? |

Wings of War. Fly for pinks. Everybody kicks in MSRP for one plane. Random draw determines who get what plane. A short trading period is followed by the game. All players at one table. The player that scores the winning hit gets the downed model. To keep. If he wants to switch to the new model, he must fly his current model off the table and returns after skipping a full turn. The last pilot flying wins. Although, the real winner will be he who got the most kills, as he'll have the most toys. |

As a former member of my group told me when I asked his opinion on putting on a different style of game for our group, "If you organize it, they will play it." As Gennorm said, more or less, "Just do it." I keep yearning for 2nd Ed. BattleSystem fantasy games
Guess I need to get busy and put something together. ;-) Cheers! |

I'd arrange a Pulp City tourney here in DC, but I regularly play against all the local players anyways. |

and I agree with Gennorm, so I will get cracking! Also
Mako11: I live in the D.C. area and I run 54mm Gladiator events at Cold wars sometimes, send me a PM if you're interested. And
Sgt Slag: Right there with ya, LOVE 2nd Edition BattleSystem. In fact, gearing up for a campaign with our club. We need LOTS of barbarian-style humans (Picts, Celts, Gauls, etc. would do fine), BOATLOADS of Mithril-style Trolls (or BIG Orcs), a goodly amount of Dwarves and Elves, Elves and more Elves! PM me if you're in the D.C. area. |

"Wings of War. Fly for pinks." This is such a great idea I can't believe nobody's done it yet! I wonder, does it qualify as "gambling" since you can lose your entry fee and someone else gets its monetary value in the form off a product? I honestly don't know,or if that would be an issue. Many gamers I know would balk at the prospect of risking $13.00, they just woulddn't see it as an "entry fee", they would see it as buying a plane to (possibly) lose it. I think that's what killed the "ante" aspect of M:tG. But a lot of others would be fine with the concept. Jay, you should run this by your FLGS. If you get this going in the D.C. area, I'll be happy to play. |

I'm too old and beat up to play tournaments any more. You'll be the most popular gamer there!!! |

I once signed up for a Sword and the Flame tournament, way back in the distant mists of the last century when it first came out. Eight people signed up. Each was supposed to bring either two platoons of Natives, or one of British. I showed up with two platoons of Zulus and the other seven showed up with a platoon each of British. It was a free for all, last man standing WWE one round event. I think I won. Quantity had a quality all it's own. That and my cross-training in postal Diplomacy. |

"Mako11: I live in the D.C. area and I run 54mm Gladiator events at Cold wars sometimes, send me a PM if you're interested". Thanks for the invite Dasher, but sadly I'm about 3,000 miles away. Used to live just outside DC though, decades ago, so know the area well. I miss it! Still awaiting news on the new edition of the THW Gladiator rules, and their forthcoming medieval tournament rules, before starting. |

I shouldn't take credit for the Wings of War pinks idea. It's jizbrand's. We discussed it this past weekend. |

As a rule tournaments in my neck of the woods are entirely hit or miss. There is a guy in CdA that seems to attract a respectable 40K crowd now and again -- Often organizers are rewarded with a handful of attendees. I get bigger attendance at an ACW game. mjc |

Dasher, I am in Minnesota. Wish I could find more fantasy fans in my local area. It's a lot of work to put together a game, and it mostly falls on one person to do the job. That is why I mentally defeat myself before I start. Too bad, really. I just need to tell myself to "Shut up, and get cracking!" If I put it together, they will play it. Cheers! |

If I wanted someone else to run a tournament then I'd run it myself. Waiting for other people to do stuff you want done is always a bad plan. |
