Hi Everyone:

I purchased a ton of 15mm ancients at a flea market, but many need spears and I don't feel like making my own.

I see that Xyston sells wire spears/pikes for 15mm. Are these the same diameter as the Northstar spears or are these s thinner gauge wire scaled to 15mm?

Thanks in Advance,
Matt

I use the North Star ones for 15mm as javelins for 25/28mm figures, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I use the xyston ones, and agree, you can't go wrong with either.

your only real consideration is the size of the had on the pike.

this is one of mine using xyston

(you may need to load it twice or something, tiny URL sometimes does that)

hopefully someone can post something similar for northstar to give you a comparison

For 15mm, you might want to use the regular point rather than the leaf head spear if you use the Northstar spears. I really love the versatility of the North Star leaf head spears though.

North Star should be considered deadly weapons; certainly for people like me with eyesight diminishing! I get regularly stabbed by my 28mm pikes and kontus wielding knights! They are nice but very sharp!

Thanks for all your replies, but maybe I should clarify my question:

Are Xyston spears thinner than Northstar?

The North Star spears and pikes have certainly drawn enough of my blood on any given day. I picked up about 8 figures just using my palm, after I slipped and put my hand in a box of figs. Darn that hurt!

I use a 0.8mm bit for both so they seem to be the same.

Incidentally, you can also get the same gauge psears from Donnington. link
There is a choice of spearhead.

I nip the very end off the Northstar pikes with pliers and file round a bit -cos they are indeed damn sharp!!
