I wanted some 15mm Space Ship Corridors for boarding party actions when I play Fed Com or Colonial Battle Fleet. I got this idea from one of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph III's blog post a while back using a pizza box and dropzonetoe's recent post on using a flat rate box.

So I went to the local pizza place(PieWorks) and to the Post Office and got some free boxes. I used a razor to cut off the unwanted portions of the boxes and then I glued them together. I used about one and a half sticks of gluegun glue. I also used close pins to hold the edges while I glued.

I kept the tops of the flat rate boxes so as to hide deployment.

I still have to paint it up and throw in some "stuff" to make it look more realistic

I have always thought that Pizza boxes would be ideal for interior terrain.

Now that is clever, especailly if you keep the pizza box top to elastic band on for storage.

If you make the walls half size, assuming fold-over construction, you can keep the pizza box intact, and have a fold out terrain piece.

I like the idea of the pizza boxes being modular, as it appears these are going to be.

Very good idea. Would work for dungeon crawls too I think.

Love the idea… I cannot wait to see the next WIP shots as it starts coming togeather. Any idea of what you are going to use inside?

Okay, I primed it to get a better fealing.

I may end up having to glue the little boxes in to make it look better. I was thiking I would order some spacestation consoles from Mr. Harold when he is up and running. I will also need some chairs and other things. When I get a chance, I will be working on some doors. If anyone has some suggestions, please step in.

I think that wolvermonkey is right about making a dungeon crawl. If it was coated with a coar of Elmer's wood filler, it would look perfect.

Hi Malleman

What about strengthening with paper mache, with glue and small strips or squares of paper, cut doors out then apply, personally I would change the layout, long corridors, differant sized rooms, I would probably design a ship interrior on paper first then build it in 3D, you could glue some sort of textures paper to the floors to replicate floor plates or something similiar, not a bad idea though, I will be watching this.

I agree with Gunner Dunbar, Perhaps cutting a few of the boxes in half making some smaller rooms would allow for more dynamic layouts.

As for the interior, I played around with a box I had on hand with grannygrating, hirst art mold bits, and balsawood chips. Nothing was glued together or cut to fit but it might give you some ideas.

Beyond that I would ask what theme your looking to make it look like;

von Schwartzwolfe, that is certainly an impressive layout, but whose artwork is printed out?

modified world works prints.

Pretty cool idea using boxes like that.

Make sure nobody from the USPS sees this. You've read warning on the end of the Priority Mail boxes right?

CorSecEng27 Nov 2011 6:26 p.m. PST

Haha and we wonder why the USPS is going out of business. Nice idea. I'd find a legal way to obtain the boxes. Like ordering more figs :)
