I'm sure this topic has come up in the past, but I am toying with the idea of creating a warband for SBH loosely based on an Arabian Nights theme. I wonder if anyone could recommend manufacturers for 28mm figures – either historic (10th-18th C.) or fantastic. These are the sort of figures I'd be after: Runaway harem girl? Urchin (perhaps the one of the lads from here – if Nic will sell them as individuals
?) link Monkey (the one holding the bow on the ground – without the wings) link Djin link Ruffians link Perhaps a magi (i.e. from the Mummy movies) A chap on a camel? A eunuch? Cheers, Nic |

A "eunuch"??? How would you know, in any scale?

Ha! I guess just a big bald guy looking stern would do. Not sure there is a need to actually prove his eunuch status

Black Tree Design makes some nice Moors for their El Cid Spanish line. Gripping Beast does, too. Either one would allow you to field 40 thieves. If you just need one rogue, I think Reaper makes them as well as the Djinn. Grelber |

Reaper makes a number of good minis, including dancing/harem girls, sultans, etc. Hasslefree also makes very nice harem girls. Probably have to paint their veils on, though. |

MegaMinis had a whole set of figures that would cover your request (well, two, actually, the harem set and the other one). I have a whole box of (unpainted) 28mm figures for a never-begun "Legends of Araby" campaign, and all the characters are from MegaMinis. |

Look at Black Tree again. They have a Fantasy range – Harlequin Fantasy Saracens and also a Historical Range Feudal Warriors of Islam. Perry have a few interesting Characers under The Crusades Muslim Armies. Otherworld have a very nice Djinni in Dungeon Monsters DM15 Mick |

I have all of the above for this very purpose. Eureka makes a lovely Harem pool set. Lost Pict |

I think Grelbur may have been referencing Artizan as "Moors for their El Cid Spanish line." I have Artizan, BTD and MegaMinis that work for Arabian Nights. I also have a couple of mounted GW figures but not sure which WFB army they came from. Some of the best figures are slaves holding large feathered fans from MegaMinis and flying carpets from BTD. |

I got the Old Glory rioting Middle Eastern mob. They are used as the "40 thieves" in a HOTT army |

You could try Wargames Factory Persian Infantry and Cavalry for your 40-Thieves, if you're so inclined. 2-boxes of infantry for $19.95 USD each gets you more than 40 thieves. Of course, if you want them mounted you'd need 4-boxes of the cavalry. Lonnie Mullins Sales Director & Product Manager Wargames Factory wargamesfactory.com |

Harry, I would suggest you try the Perry Miniatures Saracens – these are beautiful miniatures, on par with, if not better than, Hasslefree – they are so well-sculpted that I feel reluctant to paint them - they are also very very reasonable priced – £6.50 GBP for six – They have figures that could serve as ruffians, thieves, and townsfolk as well – no fantasy figures though, as they are wargaming figures - perry-miniatures.com |
