The E-A portion of Kublacon was great... Among the highlights were: - Saturday's 2pm E-A game by Craig: A Gigantic six sided Titan/Troops/Armor bash between six players who didn't know who was Traitor and who was Loyalist. They had to move a command stand within 45cm of the enemy to get identification. I played the Eldar NPC who got utterly wiped out due to Craig's miscalculation of how much Eldar would be competitive. The players were supposed to defend or destory and eldar warp gate in the middle of the map. Despite being wiped out early, it was a great game. I really enjoyed it. - Saturday's 8pm E-A game by (I forgot): An ten-person introductory game between an Imperial side and an Ork side allied with one chaos SM detatchment. Both sides were really skirmishing with no overt objectives (although there were some objectives on the table). Eric (Chern) and I played on the Imperial side (Eric with a Mechanized Fist detatchment and myself with IG arty). It was a good game. Eric and I wiped out Ork Stompa and Boyz warbands with the help of a Baneblade player. I had to leave before the game ended so I hae to wait to hear from Eric for the rest of the results. Jervis introduced the game and explained the system to everyone (All but the gamemaster, Chern and I were newbies to the game). - Meeting Jervis and getting my photo taken with him. Eric and I chatted Jervis up, but didn't really hear anything newsworthy. He had a copy of Fanatic Magazone #1, which was nice. He says that Fanatic Mag #5 is already done and that they are keeping ahead of the curve. Campaign rules are coming. - Chern's (Eric's) new E-A army cards. Eric is working on IG now. The cards look great! - No Epic on sale! There was no Epic on sale at the con although there was a guy at the flea market, but he wanted insane money for a bag of mostly E-40k SM and Ork sprues. No deal. I bought a copy of Silent Death (starfighter) rules for $5.00 USD and a ton of 6mm terrain buildings from armorcast, Ironwind and a few other companies. I also got a box of BT mechs and two Ronin - Duels mecha. Two Epic games and meeting Jervis made for a nice con! I'll try to write more later. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

AS the guy who wanted the insane prices for the bag of epic stuff apparently it wasn't that insane in that I sold it for that price 5 minutes later. There was a lot of metal in there as well. All told I think that even with the outragous prices GW is charging for it currently the was about $200-$250 retail in there. With the Dealers room not having it, there were the rulebooks there but they got sold out. The reason that there was not much more in the way of epic stuff in the dealers room was because of the way that GW sells most of the Fanatic line to the stores. You cannot order it through the normal channels that your store would get GW core product lines (40k, Fantasy Lord of the Rings) from. You have to order it through another where the profit margin for your local store is signifigantly less. In the US Battlefleet GOthic is the exception to this |

Was I the only one irritated by the poor planning of the flea market on Sunday? They had everyone stuffed into the first 1/3 of the tent with the rest of the tables empty. What a zoo! I had to brace myself to keep from getting pushed over several times. GRRRR! |

Jeff, No worries. I have too much Epic so my idea of pricing is unrealistic! Thanks for the other buys! You were great! I hope you enjoyed Kublacon. How was it for you? Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Pyrogal, "Was I the only one irritated by the poor planning of the flea market on Sunday? They had everyone stuffed into the first 1/3 of the tent with the rest of the tables empty. What a zoo! Of course, the sellers seem to have just fine anyway! Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Jeff Hiatt, I was looking through the OGRe stuff I bought from you and I noticed that one HVY turret and all of the Combine GEV sprues were missing (the one with fins and a mini gun turret). If you find them, can we arrange a trade? Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Signs of life for Epic: Armageddon? How heartening. Now if it will just revive around here... Rich |

Hundvig, It looks like E-A will be a hit and tht Jervis and the Specialist Games crew has realistic expectations for the game to survive. Now the cost of the minis is another matter altogether... :( Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

I like the new rules myself, but (to put it mildly) sales resistance locally is kind of high. E40K really nailed the coffin shut for Epic gaming around here. Still, I'm getting more BFG players lately, and it's a short step from a Planetary Assault scenario to an E:A game, right? The new mini prices *are* problematic, aren't they? Also not thrilled with the loss of variety...whatever E40K's faults were, the sheer number of different vehicles you could assemble with those semi-modular hulls was amazing. Rich |
