I have been trying to find out what would tow this gun in a motorised unit. Sdkfz 6 was designed to do this but production stopped early and other HTs were used. Any ieas which ones?? |

The SdKfz 11 and 251 were both used to tow this gun. |

I think this is the same gun as used by the Portuguese in africa in the 1960's It is indeed the very same gun. You've reminded me to get one to tow behind a GMC or one of my Berliets. |

Great job on the gun! Sexy abs on the matross, too sexy. |

Lovely job on the gun. Tim/Ditto – scroll down a bit on this link, there's a shot of a 251/4 (presumably, since that was the designated 251 gun tow variant) pulling one. There are others on the 'net too. link |

Bit of a waste of an SPW IMO given how short the Germans were of armoured HTs! |

From what I gather, armoured halftracks were only marginally better protection than unarmoured softskins – even the German ones which had much better armour than the American types. I'm guessing, in the absence of a softskin halftrack an armoured one would be used – better to move your guns and have your infantry walk if push comes to shove
