Pretty much says it all I guess. Looking for rules that allow you to customize armies and is intended for large battles, not RPG driven. |

Command & Colors/Battlelore also gives a good game. |

Armies of Arcana or Fantasy Rules, depending on whether you like your models single-based or in unit stnds. HotT is pretty good too, but a little abstract. |

By "large battles" do you mean "lots of individually mounted figures" (essentially, a large skirmish in Real Life™), or a big battle with "lots of units containing multiple figures per stand" (or an attempt to visually create what would be a massive battle in Real Life™)? If the former, do you want movement trays, or do you want each figure to be an independent actor? |

I am still trying to find a copy of the rules for 'Real Life'
although the scenarios are hit and miss. |

fantasy rules TCE is what our group is using now. No army lits, you build your army around 2 or 3 themes like Light Cavarly or Heavy Infantry or Beastmaster. |

Like a couple of others have said, it depends exactly what you're after. I play Armies of Arcana: > Armies can be customised as-you-wish (including custom stat lines, using a pricing formula) > Encouraged to be played with any miniatures > Scales anywhere from a handful of models to hordes of units and characters |
