anyone out there know of a company that is still around and producing Federation & Klingon ship minis from TOS(the original show) period that are in scale with the Star Fleet Battles or FASA miniatures? I tried the Star Ranger site and heard about a guy who is slow to deliever and you can not email him so I decided not to get involved with him. There has to be other companies and hopefully afordable miniatures out I can add to my fleets? I look forward to your replies. |

@McKinstry I'm not sure that Shapeways list is exhaustive, but it's the best I've seen so far. Thanks BIG time! I fear Shapeways is getting big enough they need better tools to search with. Doug |

I'm positive that Shapeways list is only a representative sample but as with you, searching Shapeways is becoming a hit or miss thing. |

Anyone got experience of ordering from Shapeways? If so, can you share? |

I have had no problem ordering, but the minimum is $25 USD and it usually takes 2 weeks. I just ordered some stuff in the new material SWFP and should get it in a couple of days. I would avoid ordering in SWF unless the detail is not that improtant or cost is an issue, because of the roughness of the material. I usually order in Transparent Detail. |

Most of the stuff I have ordered off of Shapeways has taken 2 weeks to build, and then 3 days in transit via UPS. The only exception is my last order that included Frosted Detail and Frosted Ultra Detail pieces; everything else from that order has shipped, but the ships in those two materials are still in production and haven't shipped yet (I think they're backlogged for those two materials). The cost is pretty reasonable once you consider that you are getting free UPS shipping on your order. I think the last few times I've ordered I have ended up paying ~$2-3 per ship across the entire order. Individual units might be a bit expensive ($10-15 for the larger ones), but you make up for it with some of the smaller ships that only cost a couple of bucks. |
