Star Wars theme:

Sortly after the death of the empeer, and extraordinary Tusken Raider (a human, kidnapped as a chil', and raised in a small clan) catches the rebellion spirit, and becomes the great uniter of the Tuskens, vowing to reclaim their planet (Tatooine) and establish Tusken Culture/Religion.

A sort of Mahdi type fellow, this Human Tusken is.

Gaining followers, they embark upon a reconquest of Tatooine, outpost and town by town.

Assorted armed residents, Sandtrooper Garrisons now loyal to the Rebellion, aliens, rebel soldiers, some jedi, and ssorted Hutt clans, misfits and mercenaries must now defend against hordes of fanatical Sand People.

This will work, right? My own spin on my beloved Star Wars gaming, and Colonial Gaming. Kinda putting them together.

Varied, colorful troops and units, savage hordes, skirmishes and large battles, I think this would have it all.

Now, what about if the Tuskens adopt other peoples into their fold (they must wear the Tusken "Jibbeh" as it were) and accept Tusken culture. That way, I can add to the mix of bad guys.

Not a bad idea. I generally like everything about it but the Rebel-allied Sandtroopers. If you really wanted guys in Stormtrooper armor, you could always run an Imperial Remnant as a third faction. I just don't see the Rebellion/New Republic wanting to hold on to the Sandtroopers, at least not Sandtroopers dressed as Sandtroopers, because the Stormtroopers and their iconic armor were one of the big symbols of Palpatine and his reign of fear.

Of course it is your game, and if you really want guys in Sandtrooper armor working for the Rebels it's not like I'm going to come to your house and tell you that you can't do that. :)

Leader of a nomadic warrior people on an obscure desert planet leads said people in revolt against the empire to reclaim their world.

Where have I heard this before?

Aside from its a lot like Dune, sounds like a lot of fun. Will you be arming the Jawa sandcrawlers?

If it's just based shortly after the death of the emperor the Stormtroopers my still be loyal to the empire whoever is running it. Is it the rebels?

Why not have free peoples with the Tuskin raiders, and defending the towns. It depends on how you want to depict the Tuskin raiders. Are they savages, hell bent on taking over the world themselves or is it more a revolution?
If it's a revolution remember that he empire is not in-charge of this planet it's the Hutts.

I am sure the Hutt's would not want either and probably hire mercenaries to put an end to this Tuskin raider uprising.

Sounds fun regardless of how you end up sorting post-Empire factions.

Looking at Wookieepedia, it seems that 'official' background is a year long war between the criminal gangs for control…..seems the perfect time for a tusken raider crusade to drive the invaders off planet. grin

Stormtroopers could be local gangs or militia using Imperial equipment abandoned when the Empire withdrew in the chaos after the battle of Endor.

The Tuskens are xenophobic (to put it mildly), so recruiting off worlders is unlikely….as I remember the background fluff, they are very hostile to everyone including other tusken tribes.

Mako1105 Jun 2011 11:11 a.m. PST

Sounds like a good idea.

Imperials need to throw in with the locals to fight for their lives, since the fleet(s) have moved on to more important sectors, essentially abandoning them on the planet.

It could make for a terrific campaign— especially if you start first with having the various gamers represent the gang factions, the Rebellion, and the former Imperials (maybe trying to become local warlords in their own right?). Let them battle it out for a while so that all sides are weak… and then spring the Tusken Mahdi on them as a surprise…

Etranger05 Jun 2011 6:45 p.m. PST

Perhaps the Hutts have recruited the Sandtroopers as mercenaries?

G-Dog, Of course Dune's plot isn't all that original either!

Go with it, sounds like a hoot…

The Stormtroopers, now that the Emperor is dead, are loyal to Vader, who is now a spirit on the good side of the Force.

The Tuskens wikll definately be the bad guys, like the mahdists. Some factions may be bad, and there will be alliances of necessity I think, between diffewrent groups, defending themselves from the Tusken onslaught.

28mmMan05 Jun 2011 8:42 p.m. PST

It is manageable on several fronts, being that there is only a small portion of Tatooine is inhabited or even habitable by anyone other than jawas and tusken.

The empire would step back, nothing to gain.

The hutts would be peeved, but I suspect they would encourage floating cities or raised cities to avoid all the grief.

Would certainly work for a short term goal game.

IMO, Vader is not Anakin. His Force spirit would also look completely different. He wouldn't come across as Vader. The Stormtroopers aren't Noghri. I don't see it. I could see the surviving Stormtroopers allying with the locals maybe even the Rebels IF things look dire. But the alliance would likely end as soon as the threat did.

Thanks,

John
