I was chatting with a member of our Confrontation group, and the subject of New Wave Miniatures came up. We began trading horror stories. He mentioned buying alot of Confrontation Minis from them, after several months he received a small padded envelope sent media mail. seems the minis were removed from the blisters and dumped in a padded envelope. He wouldn't have been so upset, except that there were no cards (you can't play without them) when he contacted New Wave, they said they didn't supply cards. He then had to purchase them direct from Rackham in France. I suspect this may be an isolated case, but has anyone else experienced this? |

Yeah we got a bunch like that. I think the deal at the time was that Rackham ran out of printed cards. It was right at the time Confrontation got big over here and Rackham was having difficulty meeting demand on figures also. We got a bunch in manilla envelopes. Normally from a retailer I would just think "that sucks" and move on but with New Wave I'm a little suspicious. Not that I have any evidence to doubt them. |

Of course, since the cards are an intregal part of the game, there's no excuse for not providing them. Why is it that nothing these jerks at New Wave do surprise me? |

This war par the course for a while. When it initially got very big Rackham gave up on supplying cards and were burning out their moulds. The figures I have from these era are very poorly detailed indeed. |

This is just my hypotheses: NewWave was big with Confrotnation while the mins were still in French and they had no large US distribution. They sold well on beauty alone, and those who wanted to play the game could get informal downloads of translations. After the mini cards were translated into English perhaps NewWave had a bunch of figures with cards in French that he could not get rid of. Kind of an appalling situation really, the French minis simply plummetted in value over here as soon as it was announced English versions were coming. I know it was why we stayed away from the range for so long. Obviously the correct thing to do would be to suck it up, perhaps try to get Rackham to send you some English cards for free to cover your old stock. They certainly owed him that, I heard that Dave even flew to France once to help them pack minis. But if the store owner has to buy the cards then he should buy them. He could then repack the blisters or just send the english cards with each order. It is either NewWave decided to take the low road here which is just lazy and stupid or they are recasts which is immoral and illegal. Dad always said to not put down to evil and conspiracy what could be easily attributed to laziness and stupidity. Mom was a conspiracy theorist. Neal |

Another possibility, Years back I bought some newly-released West Wind figures from New Wave immediately after seeing their photos on the New Wave website. Got the figures promptly, but it was clear that these were exactly the same castngs which had been used for the photo shoot. the blisters were opened and stapled back together, and one of the figs had a small miscast area which I could see in the web photo. So MAYBE New Wave busted those Rackham figs out of the packaging to make photos, and then dumped 'em in an envelope without re-uniting them with the cards and blisters. |

chick -- It's possible, but not in the way you say. I remember looking at the Confrontation minis on the New Wave site way back when, and they were scans of the cards -- so what may have happened is that New Wave broke the cards out to do the scans, and then didn't put them back together. |

Sororitas, when did this happen? Was back in the early days when Confronataion was hot like Chick said. Or was it recent? If it was recent then it might be like Neal said. |

I'll have to check on timing. I guess if the minis don't come with cards or they're not in the blister then they should be up front about it. I've never heard of any one else doing this. I just thought it was rude. |

TheWarStoreMan, In my case, I don't think that was likely. We got our figures like this long before the English version came out, probably by a couple of years. |
