I posted the question, Who Made These?, back in January 7th, 2011:

Original photos I posted showing the tank miniatures in question:

I attended Enfilade 2011 over the weekend and found that Monday Knight had a number of sci-fi tank miniatures for sale. I instantly recognized these as the same tank models I own. I was given these models about 25 years ago from a friend. My friend originally bought them from a local retailer, but since the retailer passed away in September 2008, I couldn't ask him. The retailer used to attend GenCon and Origins game conventions in the late 1970s early 1980s and he used to pick up odd bits and pieces and then resell them once he returned to Vancouver, BC, Canada..

These models were originally made by Superior Models

The tank miniatures I ended up with were never officially released. Superior Models produced these in a limited run and then, for some reason, never massed produced them. They only sold a handful at a few cons. I ended up with 12 vehicles back in 1985.

I was told that Monday Knight will be releasing them shortly as they have the original molds, along with a number of other miniatures.

Those are quite nice, and at 25 years old, the quality of the sculpt still holds up well against current offerings. It's always great when good old minaitures get a new release.

They look rather large. How long are they?

That's cool. Never expected to see new old sculpts come for MATAAC. Wonder what other unreleased prizes are lurking in the warehouse?

BlackWidowPilot Fezian30 May 2011 8:22 p.m. PST

AHA!! Those two are the two Terran MATAACs that have no *photos* on the Monday Knight website!

Now I know what to order next, 'cause they're coool…evil grin

Mystery solved … So these are available ?

Space Monkey30 May 2011 8:53 p.m. PST

Yeah, these do look like MATAAC tanks… even if they weren't originally meant to be.

CPBelt30 May 2011 9:12 p.m. PST

Leland, those are not photos of the missing tanks on the MKP site! Check the orginal TMP thread and then follow the link to the MAATAC flyer for photos of the missing photos.

Ah, thanks for the correction, Mort! It also reminds me *not* to go strictly from a sleep-deprived/packing to move crosscountry/schoolwork-addled frame of mind, as I correctly ID'ed these in the original TMP thread you referred me to as not being from the MATAAC series…evil grin

Yeah, good to get an answer on this.:)

I see someone has been putting up pictures of the old STARFORCE300 range from QT Models as well – another lot of 6mm vehicles that still stack up well to modern sculpts.

All five new models should be release by the end of the week. These were special saved items for release at Enfilade along with new pirate figures and the start of ruined buildings series.

Also, for those who are interested Tarawa is 1/2 finish, those who attended Enfilade got to see the first half of the island.
