for some reason, the first idea that popped into my mind is that critter would make a cool 'morlock-type' underground creature or alien???? Slishfully, Sgt DWW-btod |

I was thinking a Puck picture picture superhero type. What are your plans to do with the miniature? With that pose are you going to cast and then cut/pose later? |

This sculpt is to get the shape, proportions and character right. I plan on sculpting a few in different poses once I have the design set. Think of this one as sort of a sculpting dolly but with more detail. It is also a sculpt using clay-shapers
I've never used them before and I need to get to grips with them
so this one is a bit of an experiment. Like I said, it is early days yet and apart from his torso, much will change. |

What did you use for the eyes? Looks like just the ends of the armature wire. Just wondering because eyes always give me trouble and here you have a 23mm figure. Thanks. Matthew |

The eyes are 1mm diameter ball bearings (little chrome balls for those techies out there who insist that they aren't bearings ;) ). I got them from the bags/bases section at: link |

Insomniac – thanks for that tip/link – I do a lot of 60mm sculpts and I see they sell several sizes. I will have to put in an order. Matthew |

Insomniac So that's what Inso means! Looking great so far. Very clean finish. My only worry would be about the size and extent of the musculature, especially if you're going to be sculpting a lot of details over them. But I don't know exactly what you had in mind. ----- Warren B. minisculpture.co.uk |

Very cool. He had the look of a sculpting dolly but I did not want to seem rude if that was a pose you liked :) Looking forward to seeing the miniature develop further. |

Muscles are a great way of learning how to use new sculpting tools because there is a mix between precise and blended joins between each muscle block. I have deliberately gone overboard with the muscles as I see this one as a boss type rather than the standard type. I thought I'd start at the extreme so that once I had got to grips with the clay-shapers, I could be a bit more subtle with the more average ones. What can't be seen from the front/rear view is that the feet aren't human
they will end up a bit like Rhino/Elephant feet
so Puck is a bit far away from where I am aiming with this (although there is no reason that I can't attempt something like that once I get to grips with my sculpting again)
he is going to be alien. Thanks for the interest :) |
