I don't care if it pertains to your esthetic senses, or for its "Can't find me, I'm hiding!" functionality.
Besides, if I tried to pin anyone down, they would ignore me anyway, this being TMP.
This can be for anything, tanks, ships, planes, soldiers' uniforms, etc.

PLEASE provide a link to a picture!

1) Silver and green aircraft:
Soviet I-153
picture
and a very similar pattern for a Japanese Sally bomber

Both to me look like they would be very effective viewed overhead. The first time I put that Sally on the table, it was almost disorienting.

I like Crye Multicam. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MultiCam This picture is brightened to exaggerate the colours.

USN Measure 33 – Very effective in northern waters and looks good as well.

British Temperate DPM

picture

As worn by Brits, Kiwis, Bruneians. Remarkably effective, although now just been replaced with a desert/temperate mix which has an anti digital effect, and is therefore most jarring to the naked eye!

rampantlion30 May 2011 3:23 p.m. PST

Don't remember the name of it, but it is a german tank camoflauge from WWII that was a tannish-yellow base color with red brown splotches and streaks running through it.

As an ex Air Photographer I love the old Photographic reconnaissance unit spitfires in the high level blue and lower level pink schemes as seen in this video YouTube link

Two of my favorite are Russian:

One, I've only seen on Sukhoi aircraft, a yellow and brown that I think of as "smog":

link

The second is used Russian Omon units for urban operations:

link

Then there's the weird Chinese blue digital camo for their tanks. I always thought there's have to be a huge crowd of cigaret smokers in the field for this one to work:

Another vote for DPM. Makes soldiers look like soldiers on the parade ground, amd like bushes in the field.

All the best,

John.

This is how I have been wanting to do some SF minis for a while though:

I was heavily into Blue Max 1/72 biplanes, and did my fair share of lozenge camo. Top, bottom, 5 color, 4 color, night, day, etc.
Workmanlike, but no real favorites.

2) Austrian Sworl (Since I seem to be the only one bothering to number them…)
But, what I like a lot more was the Austrian sworl camo:
picture

I love the way that Germans and Austrians would obscure camouflage with honking huge personal emblems, or in this case, a Polish insignia for Post war Polish aircraft..

I've always liked this Japanese one:

I always liked the tiger strip camo uniforms used in Vietnam. Maybe one too many viewings of "Green Berets."

Rarely a problem in China, believe me – Theres so much smoking go on on internal flights you can barely make out the illuminated no smoking sign to complain!

Probably this pattern on the Char B1 bis:

and this pattern on the Saab AJ-37 Viggin is up there too:

This is a blue-white camo much like some of the Chinese ones. Not really good at hiding the assets, but it is kinda cool looking.

I thought Desert Night Camo was pretty cool, it was a failure but still has a coolness value.

NoLongerAMember31 May 2011 2:21 a.m. PST

Thats warm, water resistant and vanishes in and around soil/mud/grass/woodland.

Sane Max31 May 2011 3:36 a.m. PST

Early war French Tank Camo type – this one in fact.

It looks nice in real life – but on a Wargames table otherwise dominated by field grey and shades of Brown, it really looks lovely.

I have an old B'Tech mech lance painted out in this.

My local surplus store--even rarer than brick and mortar hobby shops--had a pattern that I thought was hilarious. It wa a standard woodland design, but the colors were Red, Orange, Yellow, and Black. Iasked the owner who bought it. He told me in all seriousness that it was very popular with Turkey hunters in the south in the Fall.
Yeah, if they were hiding in a forest fire.

I, for one, like the looks of ACU digital camo. I know it isn't terribly practical and is going away in favor of multicam, but I like it nonetheless, especially for a sci-fi feel.

I had not seen the British Berlin Block camo but I am impressed. It soulds like a very good idea.

Grand Duke Natokina
The orange coloured camo protects the hunter against other hunters (seriously). Turkeys see in black and white so the disruptive element still works.

Chasseur,I have to agree with you on the tiger stripes camo. Just looked cool especially on mercs.

Omemin03 Jun 2011 7:01 a.m. PST

I always liked the woodland pattern NATO camo

The SS pea dot is great, too, although not easy to reproduce on figures at 15mm

I also always liked the old desert camo with the rocks

My second choice, John, is Rhodesian camo.

Inari, on a dark night at 15 yards in the desert, if you are stationary, that desert flage works!
