WED game in M'ville was the Battle of Britain, the old TSR Board Game.
Lord Malcolm was promoted to be in charge of the RAF Fighter Command and I commanded the Luftwaffe.
Half of the first turn was a little slow and few casualties as we forgot to add both sides dice together to count hits (it has been a few years since we last played)
but once that was corrected the air war over Britain became very hot!
The First turn was a fabulous victory for the Luftwaffe as all three Luftflottes succeed in bombing and destroying their targets
an Airfield in 10 Group and the cities of Portsmouth and Plymouth. Malcolm was able to replace most of his lost aircraft but failed to repair the airfield which cost 10 Group a Squadron of fighters.
Turn two went to the RAF as 2 of the 3 targets chosen were in 12 Group and the Luftwaffe took heavy losses. The city of Exeter was destroyed and even better Luftflotte 5 out of Norway destroyed an Airfield in 13 Group. Again Malcolm rolled well an replaced most of his aircraft and repaired the airfield in 13 Group but failed again in 10 Group. The RAF did manage to shoot enough Jerries with fighters and AAA to destroy the 5th Luftflotte and force it out of the battle.
The next two turns went about the same as the majority of targets selected by the Luftwaffe were in the North but I did manage to destroy one more city and a radar station in 10 Group.
We stopped play at the start turn 5 and vowed to return next week to finish the fight
The Luftwaffe has destroy 7 of the 9 targets needed to win by the end of turn 8. But Luftflotte 5 is gone and Luftflotte 2 if hurt badly. Luftflotte 3 (facing 10 Group is still strong)
For the British
while Malcolm has been very lucky in replacing fighters 10 Group has been hit hard with 3 burning cities, a destroyed airfield and radar station and down one Squadron due to the lost airfield
The lost Radar station gives free access to the enemy since they do not have to stop movement when entering the radar signal!
The Luftwaffe has three turns to kill 2 targets
.I hope Luftwaffe High Command will be kind to us when targets are selected!
