So it's nigh on 2 years since the new version of AK47 came out.

Do you:

1) Play the older version out of choice, never tried the new.
2) Play the older version out of choice, tried the new but did not like it as much.
3) Play the older version but only because my group does.
4) Play the newer version but only because my group does.
5) Play the newer version out of choice
6) Play both.
7) Never played either.

Ak47 has risen to the top of our Games To Play Soon As We've Not Played Them For Ages List, we are just debating trying the new or sticking with the old.

1) for me – love it so much that I've not dared buy the new one in case it ruins it…. ;-)

2) – decided the old version was still ok, but new version very good too. Would play either.

Surely that's option 6 then wink

fairoaks02426 May 2011 3:58 a.m. PST

option 2

i think the new edition has done real harm to the game, i find far fewer people playing it now compared to a couple of years ago, which is a real shame

Agree with Dom and sticking to what I know works.

1) Got a copy of the new rules, read them and thought sod that.

1) love them so much didn't see the need to change to a newer version

1) for me too. Bought the new ruleset had a look and put it on the bookcase. Still play using the original set and have enough forces not to need to change to the new set.

2, I was even involved in playtesting version 2, but we prefer v1.

Have played the older version and enjoyed it, couldn't buy it anywhere so bought the 2nd ed, not had chance to play it but reading through it looks like it'll be as much fun as the original.

1 – but I've not played it in ages. Just finished re-basing some of the troops I had for it individually so I can play Force on Force with them.

Over two hundred infantry re-based and now I can only field three AK47 armies at once rather than the four or five I could manage before the re-basing.

6) Play both. The two sets of rules are really two different games. Both have their good and bad points. Just know that and play the game(s). We played a new version game two weeks ago. Dan and I had fun, Dan had more fun because he kicked my rear. At the end of the game we said "Old rules next time". I do agree it takes more figures to play the new version. Milita are so cheap you have to have large numbers of small armes stands to meet the demand. This last game I had three Milita units with 10 small armes stands and 4 RPG stands each. That is 46 stands just for those three units. I found that I am 4 stands of small armes short, rats I hate it when that happens! Back to painting I go!

1.

I've got the new version but the old one is familiar and gives a cracking game.

Wait a minute. My buddy Joe set up a game at his place once. I totally forgot. A strange game, interesting tho.
Haven't played it since.

So that's roughly 4-1 in favour of the old set.

Interesting
