Hi all, I'm looking to gather some playtesters for my fantasy battle game, Ballad of Sword & Bow*. It's designed for battles with about 25-50 models per side, organized into bands of 4-12 warriors (hence the "platoon" designation). The game mechanics are in place, as is a rough points system; the key areas of playtesting will be to balance the points system, look for loopholes or gaps in the rules, and most importantly, discover if the game is FUN TO PLAY. I'm also curious as to how many models a side can be played before the system starts to break down. Those interested should follow the elf path below: link -Dunadan *In retrospect, the title I chose is really similar to Song of Blades & Heroes, though that was not the original intent. If enough people, or Mr. Sfiligoi, think it is too similar, I will happily change it. |

It really sounds like a supplement for the Song series. I'd change it. It is too close. Thanks, John |

Yes. It has the same sound and metric os SBH. I do think that you should change it. Ballad of the Flashing Sword? |

I was THERE until I realized I had to join another Yahoo! group

@imapala: I can e-mail the rules to you if you're interested. I know Yahoo groups can be annoying, but it was the easiest way I knew to coordinate a playtest. @everyone else: you're in! Thanks! |

I applied to join your playtest. My games group here in Chicago plays lots of SBH but no other fantasy games and I think they may be up for this. Does the game have basing requirements? |

Models are individually based. |

Sounds interesting. But the name sounds like it's something to do with SoBH. I'd avoid any 'Song/Ballad/Ditty of' names. |

A 'warband' level set of Fantasy rules sound promising. Cheers Mark |

I'd like to have a look at it. I tend to play solo most of the time, as my sons don't show a huge amount of interst if the rules are too wordy. I play the old Fantasy Trip (Melee / Wizard etc.) mostly, but do also own and play song of Blades & Heroes. Like others have already said, I think the proposed title is far too similar to SoBH and wouldn't do either game any favours. It could easily be dismissed as another expansion for that rather than seen as a game in it's own right. |

New title is being worked on. I may end up giving it a more fluff centred name, but I will still include some 'generic'(I hate using that word when talking about fantasy) troops in it in addition to the fluff and army lists I am working on. |

Hi Dunadan, Thanks for accepting me in the group. Unfortunatley I cannot open the rules file. Has anybody else had theis problem? Would it be possible to email me the rules directly, as per the offer to Impala. I am still on the Yahoo group, and will make all my comments there. |
