I've finished my 15mm tribute to one of my all time favorite movie characters.

Enjoy.

Very well done. Now paint that puppy and re-post!

Gunner Dunbar20 May 2011 5:49 a.m. PST

Hi Roderick, thats bloody awesome, he is perfect, I have been thinking about sculpting all the Star wars characters lately, to practice my sculpting, you have done an absolute awesome job on him, great work mate, I guess this is the hard part, will he be for sale?

Battle Miniatures Emporium20 May 2011 5:52 a.m. PST

BOBA FETT?
LOL…cool man!
grin

pahoota20 May 2011 6:17 a.m. PST

Wow. That's all I can say, wow. What an excellent sculpt. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome! Fantastic work. He is my son's favorite character a well.

Jay Arnold20 May 2011 7:07 a.m. PST

Nicely done. Too bad he didn't actually do anything except anticipate one of Han Solo's actions …

But the miniature is an excellent execution of this mediocre character.

Silurian20 May 2011 7:17 a.m. PST

That's very cool. Good detail, and great pose.

Jovian120 May 2011 7:24 a.m. PST

Nicely done! I'm sure you will be PM'd to death about how one can get a copy of your fine work!

adub7420 May 2011 7:28 a.m. PST

He's cool. I think you've got your movies reversed in the 2nd paragraph.

Mooseworks820 May 2011 7:29 a.m. PST

Kick Arse!

Hitman20 May 2011 7:49 a.m. PST

Awesome job Rod…as usual. Hope you can bring him to H-Con. I would love to see it in person. Your friend north of the border…

CJArnold20 May 2011 8:14 a.m. PST

I still contend that if Lucas hadn't wussed out and decided to punk him out he could have been a much more pivotal character. But I do agree he was very ineffective.

Battle Works Studios20 May 2011 8:47 a.m. PST

Nice job, very good likeness.

Of course, now we also need a flight pose for him. :)

Will Jabba the Hutt be next?

"You guys both got to stop perpetuating this myth that Boba Fett is some kind of bad-ass. All right? He has a jet pack. So did the Rocketeer. Really cool. When it comes time for battle, the man's Michael Bay – all style, no substance."

Well done sculpt, by the way. Very impressive.

Mako1120 May 2011 11:43 a.m. PST

A beautiful mini!

Would love to see him put into production.

To be fair, Boba did survive the Sarlacc pit (per the Star Wars Bounty Hunter novel), but was a little worse for wear. Still, not everyone can do that.

I'd also love to see some Royal Guard troops, in standing, but most of all in dramatic fighting poses. Perhaps on the miniature gaming tabletop, they can provide a bit better performance than their less than stellar abilities in the movies.

Who asked this joker20 May 2011 12:18 p.m. PST

Well done Rodrick!

Rodrick Campbell Fezian20 May 2011 1:45 p.m. PST

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Especially the post regarding the movie inversion. I always get those two mixed up in my brain.

The sculpt isn't perfect. I stylized and simplified a few things to so it didn't look too cluttered in 15mm. But you can tell who it's supposed to be.

I'm planning a master mold or two around the middle of June. He'll probably be cast then for my own personal use.

It's the sale and distribution to others that becomes problematic. I have a few ideas I want to run by my IP Lawyer friend. Chime in if you can point to a legal source reference that would support or undermine these. Please none of the "if I were king" responses. I'm looking for hard legal precedent.

1) Accept donations to defray the cost of sculpting, mold making, casting and postage.

2) Highlander Studios discount club. Flat yearly fee that provides a percentage off all products and free bi-monthly miniature.

3) Free figure with the purchase of X amount of product.

4) Buy me a beer at the next convention.

I'm open to other suggestions.

Again, thanks for the comments.

Yup, just like we talked about with The BME Club…
That way you are not "Selling it".

It is for your personal use, and given as a gift to friends (who happen to frequently buy your regular products).

There is the way to the light.

I'd be happy to post you an Aussie beer, and you could post me something back, :)

This one seems the most viable. I can tell you now though, I'd love a few. One to do as Boba, one as Jango and maybe 12 or 13 more to make a small mandalorian force with one head swapped to indicate a leader. Would make for good Sci-fi mercs if one isn't gaming Star Wars. Hope you can get this little guy into production and maybe even get a couple more sculpts made down the road. You do some impressive work.

McWong7320 May 2011 10:18 p.m. PST

That is some very good work there. Whichever option you take, let us know as I want several

Stealth100021 May 2011 10:52 a.m. PST

Count me in and let me know what method. I would love a couple.

Glenn M21 May 2011 2:48 p.m. PST

I'd certainly like a few, not sure what I'd do with em yet, but they are pretty BA.

Mako1121 May 2011 2:56 p.m. PST

Yep, I'd like several too, including his lesser known, twin-sister.

I imagine you can guess her name…..

Rodrick Campbell Fezian21 May 2011 10:16 p.m. PST

Yeah, his sister. A girlfriend of mine did a computer drawing of her about 20 years ago. that image of Booba Fett has been stuck in my mind ever since.

I'm thinking that maybe I should offer a Highlander Studios catalog with free sample figure for say $5 USD to cover printing and postage. Additional catalogs available for $2 USD each.

I could also offer a catalog that includes painting rates and painted sample figure for $10 USD

What do you think?

infojunky21 May 2011 11:53 p.m. PST

I'd buy that catalog, maybe a couple for my friends…

Gunner Dunbar22 May 2011 6:15 p.m. PST

1 catalog with an unpainted figure please :)

McWong7322 May 2011 6:42 p.m. PST

Yep, when can we buy the catalogue?

(In best Yoda voice):"Beware Lucas, you should…"

Tom Bryant22 May 2011 8:52 p.m. PST

BRAVO ZULU sir! Nicely doen and you have a good idea of who it is. Always thought Boba Fett deserved more screen time kickin' arse and takin' names but still I like that sculpt. I'd buy a few if there were some extra poses. They'd make a neat commando or strike unit. Hey! Space Ninjas, thats how you get around Lucas! Call them Space Ninjas!
