I'm a huge fan of JOB illustrations of French history and napoleonic wars, and have arranged some kind of budget to collect some JOB books. however the budget is not big enough to cover all titles I see in OMM Amazon fr. or kentrotman bookstore, so guys please recommand some essantially must-have titles

I already got L'Epopee du Costume Militaire Francaise from Kentrotman publishing, the pics are great but the quality of binding and printing is somehow not very content.

Thanx for any information!

Dear NPLBNB,

I have the set of scans of illustrations by JOB, Jacques-Marie Onfray de Bréville (1858-1931), as listed below. They are a total of about 100 MB in a .zip format file – too big to email.

If you give me a depositfiles, rapidshare or similar webspace, I will upload them to you. I bought a CD with them years ago (when CD's were a "new" technology!) and have lost the CD. I will be deleting my copy of the file after you confirm successful retreival of the upload.

I think a real fan of JOB will esteem these more than I do, and I will be very happy if you enjoy them.

This forum's members can anwser more/all questions about works by JOB:

Dear SotnikC
Marvellous informations! What you provide are truely great helps,Thanks very much.
It's my fault not to tell you I already have JOB sections of Uniformology cd-roms, they're great pics but due to scanning its resolution was lowered, that's why I'm finding books, which display the illustratuons better.
The amount and dispersing of JOB works made things difficult.I've searched French publishers like LCV books but didnt make any progress. I'll call your French fellowforumtaiker for further help, although i can only post in English because English is already my second language and I dont have the third.
Thanx again
yours sincerely friend

Hi Dibble, great shares! So you actually collect old JOB print cards? That's really owesome!Your pics are accurate and more loyal to origin works than digital repaired ones in uniformology series. If I can greed more I'd like to have higher resolution scanned ones.
Could you give some advice in JOB books, cards, prints, etc.?
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers,

Dear Sotnik, I highly appreciate the links you gave me, expecially the Bonarparte title, the scanning is wonderful with zoomable images display details of JOB's trademark style. this saves me a considerable sum of fasmile book, so I must thank you again for I'm literally blind of so many French e-resources.

NPLBNB

I'm afraid that I have sourced all the JOB plates via web sites and illustrations used in books.

The main source are on this link which is an absolute goldmine for old colour plates in their thousands.

Just click on the year date and a selection of plates will appear in which some will be by JOB. Be aware though that many are rather tatty and you will have to do a lot of trawling thrugh each year (from about 1760) to find them

NPLBNB,

I have the majority of works by JOB that concern the period 1789-1815 including one produced to be used as cut outs the full title being:
L`Empereur, L`Imperatrice la Garde, Serie de decoupages par JOB, texte par A. Fabre. Is there anything special that you are looking for?

Out of curiosity, where do you folks go 'hunting' to find the actual prints? Online auctions? Private dealers?
