So has anyone bought and painted some of these up.

It is a period I am considering and these do look nice. Just curious if anyone has worked with these figures and their impression in person.

I don't have their AWI but I do have some of their French & Indian stuff and they are very nice. I assume the AWI figs will be the same quality. The detail is good and the poses are reasonable. Casting was very good. I have some of the woodland indians painted and am very happy with them.

Ah, but given your TMP name, can we trust your judgement?

ROTFL! thumbs up

The figures are nice…my painting may be a little…well…less than nice but that's not Blue Moon's fault. LOL They certainly tried their best to make it easy for people like me who still paint with a 4" brush!

I have the WSS line and they are nice, almost a midway hybred between Minifigs and OG 15s. The proportions are good while the detail is less pronounced than the OG 15s, but more than the smoother finish used by Minifigs. Flag Poles are very sturdy, horses and riders fit together VERY well and I really like the circular stands as they enable the figure to stand on its on without tipping over, even when you are waiting for the glue to dry on the base. There seems to be at least two slightly different poses for each pack.

I have a rather large order here to do for a customer. If I get the chance I'll try and get started on them and get back with some feedback but I have to finish up a backlog of stuff first.

The bare lead itself looks swell. Beautiful figures.

I am painting 6,000 of them for an order and they are fine.

I wish I could even give you a written description, but alas, I can not. My friendly local game store still hasn't gotten the five Blue Moon packs I ordered in late February.

I'm very interested in seeing if the Blue Moon AWI figures are reasonably compatible with other AWI 15s (of which I already own several hundred.)

There are no outstanding orders at OG that are as far back as February so you may want to check with your store.

Thanks, Russ. I'm pretty sure that the delay is on the part of my local store, rather than Old Glory.

By the way, please accept my apologies. I just looked at what I wrote previously, and can now see how someone could get the mistaken impression that Old Glory was at fault. I'd happily edit that message, but it looks like it's too late now.

I also don't want to fuss too much about the local game store. I really like it, and am more than happy to give its owners as much of my business as possible (although I wish they'd pick up the pace!)

No problem Jeff. Mayby you should suggest that your store actually stock the product instead of just "special ordering" and that way it would be sitting there waiting for you and many others who may not even know it exsists until they see it on the shelf?
Its funny that way --I have bought 1000s of candy bars in my life and I am confident if I searched on the web I could find them discounted and yet I have never ever went that route?

Although I have not painted any yet, I have cleaned (not much involved in doing so) and primed several bags. I am impressed with the poses and the sculpting and think they will look great (assuming I can avoid slopping them up) with my other troops.

I don't think you will be disappointed.

Would Blue Moon mix with Old Glory figs? I already have a ton of OG AWI but find the BLue Moon figures intriguing.

mashrewba10 Jul 2011 6:22 a.m. PST

Got some of these the other day – like 18mm Perry figs -beautiful.

clibinarium12 Jul 2011 2:50 a.m. PST

First painted versions I've seen, they look lovely;

Those are OG 2nd Edition 25/28mm NOT Blue Moon 18mm.

clibinarium12 Jul 2011 8:44 a.m. PST

Actually they are; I didn't read through the whole post which mentions that the pic is of 28mm figures.

sharps5412 Jul 2011 11:30 a.m. PST

I have a silly question, how do the Blue Moon 18mm compare to 1/72 plastics in size?

They maybe 28s in the photo but actually that's almost what the Bluemoons do look like!
I like the metal they are made of -bends a bit but muskets are thin tough and straight.

Early morning writer13 Jul 2011 6:54 a.m. PST

sharps54, The Blue Moon 18s are substantially smaller than 1/72 plastic and would stand out like a sore thumb. I checked some of my Blue Moon (FIW – Pony Wars) against a 1/72 because of all the people saying they were that size and the Blue Moon barely came up to the shoulder of the 1/72 figure.

Early morning writer,

Thanks!
