Hello! I'm thinking about gaming a generic southwest African conflict based on the Rhodesian Bush War, and though I have settled on Peter Pig for the pseudo-Rhodesians, I need a pseudo-ZANLA army to fight them. While Peter Pig also makes Militia and Regular troops that would certainly be a good choice, I'm curious if anyone had any opinions as to the quality of Old Glory's Command Decision African Irregulars, or Rebel Miniatures' African Military/Militia. While I would certainly like to use Peter Pig for all of my figures (PP at least has pictures of their miniatures so I know what I can expect), I am specifically wondering if I can save a bit of cash by choosing Old Glory or Rebel Miniatures and still be satisfied by the quality. It seems PP makes the best stuff, but as I have no hands on experience, I am woefully unqualified to make such a claim. Also, as I'm relatively new to the world of wargaming, are there other manufacturers out there that I am overlooking? In addition, I'm curious as to the vehicles I can obtain for the period. Does anyone make a good Ratel, Alouette III, or Ferret? |

I think the Rebel figures will be a good alternative. I have their insurgents and in terms of height and heft they blend VERY well with Peter Pig U.S. Marines and QRF Cold War West Germans. And I plan on buying the Rebel Minis Africans as well. |

And I may be able to supply an Alouette later this year. In the US, try contacting Mark at Scale Creep. Geoff quickreactionforce.co.uk |

The Old Glory africans Irregulars look and feel African. PPig are too generic for my taste. I have the Rebel Minis too and really like them: picture I'm also using QRF Viet Minh with SKS (in floppy hats) Cheers Mark |
