Any ideas for a giant that will look good next to 28mm figs?
I am not quite sure where to start looking for one…

Bigger and bulkier the better!

Links would be handy!

Thanks!

GW's giant is quite good, really, and very tall.

Majestic bear do one majesticbear.net/products I haven't seen it in the flesh but I liked the look of their "ents"

Mirliton has a few:

GW's is impressively huge, if a little goofy. Gives you lots of extra parts, too.

Reaper makes a bunch of them – there's a particularly huge (and expensive) hill giant in the Warlord range:

Still smaller than the comparatively-priced GW one, but bigger than any of their other ones. I like his gorilla-like pose, personally.

Oh… Some of those Mirtlon's look fantastic, yet… familiar…
I love that Goblin War Giant!

I may have to go digging in the shed tonight…
That might have just saved me a $94 USD purchase…

I recently picked up an action figure from the recent Clash of the Giants movie for this purpose. Toys R us is clearing them out. I suppose it is not bulky, as the proportions are pretty standard, but it is appropriately big.

We use this guy:

We took the back pack and dwarf crew off of him and added a fur cape and my son uses him for his Chaos Giant. The best thing is you can get them for about $10.00.

Hope that helps.

As a very cheap and nasty alternative how about the old 1/32nd Airfix medievals? There'a a bloke chucking a rock that could be useful.

The Harry Potter troll (from the first film) off eBay. About same size as GW model, carries tree trunk, is perfect…

There's one at £3.00 GBP with no bids on at the moment:

There are a couple of real cheap options.

Agree with the action figure direction.

There are many with great details and some with ready to play paint jobs.

But if you must empty your wallet there are many options.

How big, tall, and what sort of appearance…savage or army standard?

If you must rob the bank of Hipcity National then perhaps one of these then?

Are you taunting me EC? Challenging me? ME????

I thought about, but I have not seen any scale pics.
But it does say its 185mm… Humm… That might be big enough.

Why EC? You have a spare laying about the shop? wink

Scale pics? That's a full sized human hanging from his belt.

I wonder if the wife would kill me…

When you get it, assemble it before you let her see it, and when it comes time for the unveiling, have the giant holding something nice- but not prohibitively pricey- like a Swarovski crystal pendant on a snake chain or something similar.

I still use the old Ral Partha giants with my 28mm. They still look Giant and they have a few that were really big.

"Reaper makes a bunch of them – there's a particularly huge (and expensive) hill giant in the Warlord range:"

Oh my…

I paid $24.99 USD for that giant in '06 (directly from Reaper) and thought "What a steal!". I guess it really was.

You could look on Ebay for the D&D prepainted Plastic figures. They have a number of giants.

Cheers, Xin

Here is a cheap plastic Frazetta frost giant next to a 28mm fig.

The whole series is quite nice and I got them in a discount outlet for a low price. I primered and re-painted. It is good for display, but kind of big to game with. The Conan with woman draped on leg would be the ultimate wedding cake topper, for the right crowd though.
