So, a while back I cobbled together a quick and dirty landed gunship/cutter sort of a ship out of an old Batman movie Tumbler toy. Adding some guns and bits and pieces and a crudely sculpted armored canopy made the shell of the vehicle into a passible ship. I haven't painted it yet, but here are some pics - picture picture What have you folks done for ships on the ground? Show us some pics! -Eli |

Insomniac – that's a pretty simple, but slick ride. Earl – That's a real monster. Many Star Wars models/toys died

Anybody else have trouble coming up with workable landing gear, cockpits and/or hatches and windows for spacecraft? |
Unrepentant Werewolf 2 | 24 Apr 2011 12:19 p.m. PST |
There's a suggestion for GZG, Jon does building bits, how about landing gear, cockpits etc? |

Not sure if it could pull a market, but would be cool to ask once he's back up and running. -Eli |

By god that thing is made out of an AT-AT! I love it. What did you use for the landing skids and cockpit? -Eli |

I think a starship would be a tad too big to fit on a 28mm game table. Shuttles, gunships and landing craft coming from the starship are about as big as you can expect and even those are really undersized to make for a practical gaming footprint. |

In 15mm I would say you could pull off something the size of a cutter or light freighter (Millenium Falcon) on the ground and not have it be the board. I hope to some day have enough landed ships to stage a space port battle. -Eli |

emu2020 I used some legs off an Airfix Robo gear walker for the landing gear. Thats where the cabin came from as well. |

Big ship there. Nice model but a bit expensive. |

The Stoned Potato turned out great. Is it a STONED potato, being heavy and flying smooth as a rock per say, or like a stoned potato. Or is it a STONED potato, with a couple potheads at the wheel? Either way, looks good. I like your color choices. Best compliment I could offer, it reminds me of the Firefly/Serenity universe. |
Farstar | 25 Apr 2011 4:39 p.m. PST |
where are the star ships?
Like some others here, I operate from a long-time Traveller bias. The smallest true starship in Traveller, and its most iconic, is the Scout/Courier. In 15mm it would be 16 inches long
|
Lion in the Stars | 26 Apr 2011 12:11 p.m. PST |
A 747 is 230-250 feet long. I can't see an SSTO shuttle, let alone an actual starship, much smaller than that. In 1/100 scale, a 747 would be 30" long
too big to be anything but the table! |

Keep the pics coming folks. The starship word was just used in the title. What we're looking for is futuristic vessels parked on the ground. -Eli |
