I'm looking at some Nabataean allies for my DBMM EIR army. Any recommendations for possible figures for their mounted troops which are classesd as Knights (fast) in the rules and any foot figures ( bow, javelin infantry)? cheers |

I don't know 25/28mm ranges well, but a mix of Hellenistic types with Later Pre-Islamic Arabs (especially for the lighter foot) is what has been suggested elsewhere. Maccabaean heavy cavalry would probably work for the Kn(F). Better equipped archers might even be depicted with Roman 'eastern/Syrian' archers. |

If DBMM, they are likely 18mm, but if 28mm I'd look at the A&A 3rd century range, for the cavalry at least. Simon |

Scale? If DBMM, they are likely 18mm I think the thread title gives a clue

Thanks guys, 25/28 was the scale I'm after. I'll have a look at the A&A range, I have soem of their Roman stuff already. Who makes the Maccabean cavalry in this scale? cheers |

One thing to bear in mind is that if you use 3rd Century stuff, the Nabataean kingdom ended in 106AD so many of the helmets would be too late, even if the Nabs used normal Roman gear. Newline do Maccabaeans – no idea of quality. |

I was thinking of the Parthians or Sassanids for the Kn(f) cavalry. Re Maccabean cavalry, for unarmoured cavalry, some of the Foundry WotGs might work, or perhaps some of the Aventine Classical range. Simon |

Thanks Simon ans Swampster, I really like the A & A stuff so may be happy to 'fudge' the helemts and gear to use soem of their PArthians or Sassanids. I have seen soem of the Newline figs in other periods and haven't been as impressed as the A & A sculpts. Thanks for the feedback |

The Parthians etc. would work well for the more easterly Arabo-Aramaeans. The Nabataeans seem to have been more influenced by Hellenistic styles of clothing i.e. no trousers. Scale armour does seem to have been a feature this far west though. |

That's interesting Pat, so might the Kn(f) depict someone looking more like a companion, than a cataphract? Simon |

Infantry are Essex early Arabs, they have photos on their website. Also, Castaway biblical Arabs and Hebrews will work just fine. For armored cavalry I would recommend any Hellenistic "companion" cavalry. It's unlikely that they would have any uniforms appearance and figures from any "Palmiran" range will work also. Old Glory and A&A makes those. Like others suggested Parthian not very heavily armored cavalry on unarmored horses will work too. |

Thank you, I have learned something. I never heard of Nabataeans before, and I actually never have met any of them. |
