This is the stuff I'm talking about: link link auction auction auction link link link link Perhaps if cut into strips and used for futuristic walls or roofs on human buildings, or as corridor walls for alien civilizations? If you have, what has been your experience with them? Thanks, Dan PS. I'm not sure if by "polystyrene" or "styrofoam" these manufacturers/retailers mean the dense EXTRUDED type used within paper-covered foam boards or in thick insulation boards (blue or pink boards) or if they mean the beaded EXPANDED polystyrene (used to make white cheap and brittle beer coolers) type or the THIN HARD MOLDED styrene (like with the vacuum-formed Amera buildings, or the Evergreen or Plastruc "styrene" sheets): link link |

I use ceiling tiles as my gaming surface, but only because I'm actually hiding in the attic. |

DarthFozzyWig, What kind of polystyrene are the ones you've used? Extruded, expanded or molded? Thanks, Dan |

I've used them in the past to make very basic buildings for 25/28mm games. These days people tend to use foamboard instead, but it's possible to put together a small village using poly tiles within a couple of hours, quick coat of paint, and there's something to fight through. It can be a bit brittle and won't stand up too well to really clumsy players! |

DorkHeresy: "It can be a bit brittle and won't stand up too well to really clumsy players" Sounds like you mean the white brittle and beaded type used in packaging and cheap beer coolers. Too bad. I was hoping for the harder sheet or molded type. Dan TMP link |

Styrofoam statement in your links says it all(first link I believe). Styrofoam is expanded beaded foam. Same stuff that is in your cheap coffee cup
. Go to your local Home Depot or Lowes and get the pink or blue foam insulation boards. If you are worried about transport, you can always cut it yourself in store or they can run it through the plywood panel saw. |
