Hi Guys,

I went along to the Salute 2011 show at the Excel Centre in London on Saturday. I took a few pictures of the excellent demonstration game of Arnhem put on by John Lander, if you fancy a look then here is the link

It's inspiration for the 54mm stuff I'm collecting.

Normally my first reaction to anything over 25mm is #@$#@$%%. However, this looks great!

How big was the table?

By John 5418 Apr 2011 12:19 p.m. PST

2 tables, 27ft by 6ft, with a 3 ft gap between them, representing the lower Rhine, with Arnhem bridge spanning it at one end, and the drop zones at t'other on the north side, and Driel, with the Polish DZ on the other bank. I have some pictures of the game myself, I'll load them up.

Pictures don't do it justice, it was superb!

I've loaded up some of my own shots, and I'm quite chuffed with some of 'em, the casulty evac, and 17pdr shots in particular.
Thanks for the nice comments.

Oh, I castigated Mark for the aircraft label, (Mustang!I ask yer!) and it is now correctly labelled as a Typhoon!

Looking sheepishly around the empty Wargames Holiday Centre at the would be Mustangs…err Typhoons on the shelf! We have whole flights of them!

"Hangs head in shame!"

Suggestions for another do next year John, what about Hougomont in 54mm? Or La Haye as that gives you the opportunity to put Cavalry in as well as Guns and all the infantry. You're mates in the KGL would love you more for it!

Come on guys, put your seconded comments in! We know you can do it John!

Nice one John. I especially like the massed ranks of Pz Ko 224. I've only got one Flammpanzer Char B, and you've got three! in 1/35th!!

Mark, all requests for games will be totally ignored!
Napoleonics in 54mm? no thanks, I'd have to do about 1000 figures to make it worthwhile, not being a fan of skirmish games.
