I agree, I keep hoping to see a new series. I have also been looking for the box set. |

There are two books in regular sci-fi from Peter Telp and several youth fiction books put out by various authors. The Telp books are okay- You have the novel based on the pilot episode and a different novel called "Demolition Winter". They are okay, but not excellent books. They do give you some new insights into the universe of S:AAB, but not much else. The youth novels are pretty short affairs- a bit more than 100 pages and cover a specific episode in the series. They aren't as
intense(?) as the actual episode. Plus some of the vocabulary used shows the author's lack of even basic military knowledge. They were written for middle school and lower high-school kids. I've read a couple and honestly I say stick with the TV episodes. It would be great, one day, to see an author who's really decent take over the line. I wouldn't hold my breath though. S:AAB is pretty dead now as an IP. But who knows, 10 years ago I thought the same about Battlestar Galactica! |

Oh, here are a few links if you want to check out the existing books for yourself: Demolition Winter by Peter Telp link Here's an Amazon link to the DVDs. You can find them rather easily on ebay too: link I have no idea what this book is- maybe a youth info book??? Pretty expensive just to see what it is: link The Pilot Episode as a Youth Novel: link "Dark Side of the Sun" Youth Novel: link "The Enemy" Youth Novel: link A closer look will probably turn up one more. There was also a short lived comic book series out too that had maybe (?) 5 or so books. I lost mine ages ago so I'm kind of hazy on the details. Hope that helps. |

A bit OT, but I've seen several attempts at doing spaceship minis based on the series over on the forums at Starship Combat News. I forget which company was doing them, but if you ask around over there they'll probably pipe up in short order. Or maybe you already knew, in which case never mind. :) |

Does anyone do any figures for SAAB? |
Stronty Girl | 17 Apr 2011 8:28 a.m. PST |
I read the Demolition Winter one. It was okay, but its main focus was West, who wasn't my favorite character. Plus the bits about mountaineering had too much loving detail about climbing kit/techniques and not enough plot. I've got one of the "youth" ones (Mutiny) but never read it, despite that being one of my favorite episodes. It's 102 pages of rather large font. Less a novel, more a short story
If you are brave you could go looking for SAAB fanfic on t'interweb. There is good stuff out there (my friend Rachael wrote some). But it is – as with all fanfic – surrounded by: a) utterly dreadful, semi-literate stuff b) slash (from cutesy to hardcore) c) and if you are really, really unlucky
utterly dreadful, semi-literate, cutesy slash
