What buildings do you prefer for current N. African and Middle Eastern locals? Ambush Alley gaming appropriate. Say like these (in 15mm):

Multi-story structures would be great!

Cheers.

I have a bunch of the JR Miniatures buildings and I like them – look mostly like your first posted picture.

I've got a bunch of JR Miniatures also, which I'm very happy with.

Y'know, they're also pretty easy to make. Some other guy posted a while back that Michael's sells these little cardboard craft boxes in various sizes, so I went down and bought a bunch for myself. The boxes I picked up are roughly 2" x 2" x 2" cubes and the surfaces are somewhat textured like adobe. Take the cover off and glue it upside down and you have an instant parapet Make a few cuts for doors and windows and TA-DA!!! In mere minutes, you have a 15mm building that looks surprisingly good. I'm putting them together with my JR buildings to make town blocks, and they fit right in. I'll try to take a couple of photos this evening and post them here so you can see.

I have Deimos Design Studio (no longer in business) and they are excellent. Lift off roofs, not just one story buildings. Pics on my blog: link

I have an order coming from Kerr and King, they have lift off roofs as well. kerrandking.co.uk

Haven't tried these folks yet: Najewitz Modelbau – lasermodellbau.de

Hey Altius – yeah, id like to see those if you get a minute.

The market is full of 15mm Middle East and North African style buildings.

I think where 15mm building choice is really lacking, is generic 'modern' or 'western' style buildings that you typically see throughout the world.

I also think it would be cool to see pre-made/molded shanty town style buildings.

Here are a few photos. For all of the town sections, I deliberately mixed the JR buildings with the cardboard ones for variety. Keep in mind, it's a work in progress:

This section's pretty much finished, but I want to add a couple more details like trees:

Same one, but a crappy photo. But you can see that I left the box lid off of one so it wouldn't look monotonous:

The rest of these sections are unfinished:

More crappiness, but you can see one of the cardboard ones next to a Peter Pig:

@Darryl, Kerr & KIng is nice yet simple stuff. The Najewitz Modelbau is beyond words! I cant wait to see how they look in person! Thank you!

My favorites are a set that Shawn from Ambush Alley Games made for me. Sturdy, look great, removable roofs. I love 'em.

Anyone got Najewitz Modelbau terrain? How robust is it?
Would you reccomend it?

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP24 Mar 2011 4:59 p.m. PST

@McWong, Im suitably intrigued to order up 1 piece to start. I'll pass along a review when it arrives.

McWong7324 Mar 2011 5:18 p.m. PST

With free worldwide shipping for orders over 40 EUs, I'm very tempted as well to just order them and see for myself.

That pegasus bridge is a lovely piece, but the mid east range looks great too. I'm worried that you'll need to do a fair bit of work thuogh to make the various floors both removable and usable for wargaming.

GameCraft Miniatures have some modern ME buildings in 15mm.

Etranger24 Mar 2011 11:09 p.m. PST

A second vote for Gamecrafts buildings – I'll be grabbing some more of them for myself soon. The Najewitz Modelbau stuff looks tempting.

McWong – Eureka have some ME buildings in their Mayhem Miniatures building range. Smalll houses but rather nice IMHO. With some added sci-fi props from GZG. picture picture picture picture

"GameCraft Miniatures"---Good call, I actually realized that I have a a bag of those on my workbench (couldnt recall who made them!) that I havent assembled yet! The pictures look nice though!

Thanks for the reminder "Zoneofcontrol" !

I cant' recommend Fieldworks building highly enough. Roofs come off, and interior floors are removable in multi-storey building. Modern looking too.
