Honorable Gentlemen, what paper publications or World Wide Web resources could help me in painting 'correctly' my VSF Earth armies, especially British and Indian colonial uniforms ? Thanks in advance.

You didn't say when and where in the 19th century. Uniforms changed a bit over the years. :)

Here's Michael Perry's guide for uniforms in the Sudan 1883-85

I highly recommend Tim Reese's CD's. They cover most of the major and minor colonial wars of the 19th Century.

I highly recommend any book by Osprey but their Armies series tends to show off the uniforms of the troops by period. They have several books that I personally own including one on Islandwana which shows the uniforms of the British. They have several on the Africa Land Grab that include the South German uniforms etc. You can probably find some of the photos from the books online too.

Warbeads what do need to know about Spain in the AWI. As soon as our artwork is complete we will release a book on it.

Please, how many plates are there to a Tim Reese disc?

mjkerner24 Mar 2011 10:23 a.m. PST

Sorry, I'm just getting back to this thread. The Colonial Cd's cover about 25 wars, and each subject has about 20 plates (with four "figures" per plate) and a text page describing each plate. Well worth it, IMHO.

RudyNelson,

I have an interest (obsession? grin) for any and all historical Spanish, American, and – lesser – Mexican from the foundation of Santa Fe, New Mexico, thru the Spanish Civil War (some periods and geographic areas more than others.) My VSF force for Venus is Spanish. I have a Hispanic (and Native American) force for Dirtside 2.

Gracias,

Glenn
