Sorry, one other question occurs to me. 6 – What led you to the conclusion that she was executed because she was 'mouthy'? I had thought the issue (pardon the pun) was the lack of a male heir. |

Yes, Henry did as many kings did. Many of his actions were designed to keep England an independent and viable country. To that end he dissolved Catholic monasteries and awarded their lands and wealth to his supporters, thereby assuring their loyalty. [The Chinese Emperor did this with Buddhist monasteries about 700 years before Henry BTW.] His actions make him a great king perhaps, but neither hero nor villain. Weaselhoffen. |
