Soldier King (GDW, 1982) is a boardgame simulating a quasi-WAS in the fictional island-continent of Estavia: "When the old Emperor died without issue, four claimants jostled for the Crimson Throne of the Estavian Empire". link link According to a few posts on several Yahoo groups years ago, at least two wargaming teams were independently undertaking to translate it as an Hyboria-like campaign with miniature armies; link link and a googling delivered what looks as a 3rd attempt: link Yet, so far no concrete expression appeared on the web, as far as I know. True, to build at least 4 armies requires *time* and dedication
Is someone here aware of the progress of these projects, or is involved in another, as yet not 'web-published', campaign based on 'Soldier King'? |

I have seen your last link and wanted to run a campaign using that for some time now. I have not actually done so, but am certainly interested if anyone has. It sounds from reading the player's report rather like the original campaign had large armies. For my own purposes I would be inclined to reduce the size of the starting armies to keep things manageable. My rules of choice would be Volley and Bayonet: Road to Glory. I think that the players could use the Road to Glory scenario set-up system to make the battles more interesting too. Anyway, I hope someone else can come up with some answers to your questions because I am keen to read them too. Another campaign that appealed to me, largely because it seemed to be served up with a large slice of sense of humour, was this one: oocities.org/zonker1.geo The link is to an archived version of it because the original site appears to have disappeared. |

Ah yes, Tom Harris Prissia! 54mm / small units, but very humorous. Thanks for the archived link, btw. Cheers, Jean-Louis |

Yes, thanks for that archived link, those rules look interesting. I notice though the rules end with a title for section 6.3.2 – does anyone have a version with that section (and anything that might be after it)? |

AH, DEK. I was just repairing the Monrovian Army Command Stand. I've turned over the entire Monrovian Army (including the allied forces of Cheddaristan and the free city of Checagou) to my 7 year old son. I'll take a look though my stuff and see if I can find the complete (or as complete as they got ) rules. We never did really run a campaign per se. It was more of a battle generator and excuse to get together. |

What enquiring minds really want to know is if anyone painted up a "Class 4 Daughter"! |

I can tell you yes. I believe Greg Novak has such a figure. |
