DeanMoto13 Mar 2011 9:52 p.m. PST

I like the Mycenaean Greeks, but I think the NKE and Hittites used them to greater effect.

Mycenaean Greek for me but I rather like the look of Mitaani as well.

JCBJCB14 Mar 2011 2:12 a.m. PST

Iron Age Hebrew, Syro-Canaanite and Mycenaeans/Trojans for me, in that order.

Keraunos14 Mar 2011 2:36 a.m. PST

mid to late lybians
– you get the Sea Peoples or Sherden as allies, and a chariot or two – and the tan and caramel colours on a desert yellow base, which sounds as bland as a store bought curry, is actually really easy to get a good army effect with, and amazingly quick to paint.

Can't say they win often, but the are great fun to play with even if you lose.

New Kingdom Egyptians.

Paul Y14 Mar 2011 2:50 a.m. PST

Hittite Empire – I like the mix of 2- and 3-man chariots.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the late Neo-Assyrian 'tanks' at the end of the period as well…

Cheers,
Paul.

Hittites

MDIvancic14 Mar 2011 3:16 a.m. PST

I really like them all, but my field my Assyrian's the most. This is my favorite period in ancient gaming.

colin knight14 Mar 2011 3:48 a.m. PST

Sumerians. Too often seen as the under dogs. After that Assyrians and everything else in the Near East.

Dave Crowell14 Mar 2011 4:13 a.m. PST

Sea Peoples the first truly effective anti-chariot army.

But I like them all.

Thomas Whitten14 Mar 2011 6:46 a.m. PST

They are all cool for one reason or another but Sumerians with their 4-ass chariots are my favorite.

Pictors Studio14 Mar 2011 6:54 a.m. PST

Trojan Wars Achaians.

elcid109914 Mar 2011 9:27 a.m. PST

Has to be Trojans

DavePauwels14 Mar 2011 9:45 a.m. PST

New Kingdom, for sure.

Paddy O Dawes14 Mar 2011 9:51 a.m. PST

Hittites, then NKE, then Assyrians, then Sea People.

Assyrians followed by…Assyrians.

SonofThor14 Mar 2011 10:14 a.m. PST

Mycenean

DeanMoto14 Mar 2011 10:40 a.m. PST

To clarify my previous comment – If I wanted to play a "historical" chariot warfare game, it would have to be something like Kadesh – between NKE & Hittites. I just happen to like the whole Mycenaean/Trojan War stuff more.

RockyRusso14 Mar 2011 10:46 a.m. PST

Hi

Hittites. The fun part was scratchbuilding 3 man chariots.

aecurtis Fezian14 Mar 2011 11:36 a.m. PST

Mitanni.

Garand14 Mar 2011 11:59 a.m. PST

Another vote for Mycenean/Achaean Greeks. Honorable mention to the Hittites…

Damon.

Shang Chinese *bump*

colin knight14 Mar 2011 4:08 p.m. PST

aecurtis-Mitanni. Good choice Not an army you see often. Cutting Edge have started to list Late Bronze Age including Mitanni. I like them with lots of armour.

Skeptic14 Mar 2011 5:03 p.m. PST

Warring States/Spring & Autumn Chinese, unless they happen to be by Renegade, in which case they are a chariot-less army.

SgtPain14 Mar 2011 5:56 p.m. PST

New Kingdom Egyptians get my vote.

DalyDR14 Mar 2011 6:31 p.m. PST

I don't have a chariot army in my collection, but if I did, I think Mitanni would be the one I would choose. Hittites would be second choice.

goragrad14 Mar 2011 11:48 p.m. PST

I always think of Kadesh for 'classical' chariot combat. So Hittities and NKE.

battle master15 Mar 2011 2:45 a.m. PST

I'll second the Hittites and NKE

Sysiphus15 Mar 2011 8:01 a.m. PST

Hittites

zippyfusenet15 Mar 2011 5:34 p.m. PST

I guess I have them all: NKE, Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Mycenaeans. But I gotta admit, the armies from this era that I really love, my favorites, are the ones that have no chariots, no armor, no princes in fancy robes, just a bunch of sweaty, hairy, flea-infested guys wearing diapers and brandishing pointy sticks and rocks. Early Hebrews, Shasu, Martu, savages from the Lullu land. They remind me of my old neighborhood. They're tactically hopeless, but if you ever eke out a victory with them, you know you have the Divine Favor.
