Hi- Looking for 3 elements in a WW2 skirmish game. 15mm or 28mm scale preferred. 1) Post battle experience/improvement system 2) linked campaign system 3) detailed armor hit/penetration system 3.5) faster vs slower play From what I did find so far it sounds like NUTS! might be a good system for most of the things I am looking for. But does it have skills and stat increases for individual character models or just generalized bonuses? Also, in the rare scenario where the players encounter a tank, and desperately fire a bazooka at its side, I want there to be as detailed of a hit location chart as possible with realistic armor penetration modeled per vehicle type. I seem to recall long ago that 40K had something like this with a clear targeting template and perhaps Battleground WW2 as well? I really like the idea of my players being faced with the cinematics of having to mount a disabled tank to flush out the crew. I have a bunch of old Sgt Rock comic books that I want to turn into scenarios for just such a gaming system. Thanks all for any recommendations along these lines. and no, I didn't spend 18 hours combing through the forums

I think NUTS is what you're looking for. How familiar are you with THW? It only uses one main stat- reputation. Now you can assign "attributes" that make the characters different by giving them special abilities ("Born Leader" gives the character an additional 1d6 for all personal reaction tests, etc). If you grab All Things Zombie rules set then you can get the skill rules that give more detail to characters. I don't really know the vehicle rules very well so I don't know it it's detailed enough for you. I tend to shy away from detail as it doesn't add much to the game other than leaching time. Nuts isn't a very expensive game so you don't lose much by getting it (compared to $75 USD rulebooks I can mention!). Grab a copy of Chain Reaction 3.0 and see if they feel 'right' to you. |

NUTS! sounds like a good choice for you. Soldiers can improve with experience after games. Each soldier has a Rep rating which can improve, and he can also gain skills like marksman, medic, etc. The tank damage rules aren't as detailed as you say you would like, however. I'd suggest joining the Yahoo group (twohourwargames) and taking a look at the QRS in the files section to see if it has enough detail to satisfy your requirements. Mike |

Look at adding Platoon Forward campaign system to whatever tactical rules you. You can find reviews and discussion of Platoon Forward on TMP, and the system is available from Too Fat Lardies. Dale |

Based on the elements you mentioned and the 'pulpy' feel for which I assume you are going (as you mention Sgt. Rock comics), you may try those free rules based on Necromunda: PDF link |

It might be easier to find a WWII ruleset you like then just bolt on your own campaign system. I like Battleground WWII. Its got the detail your looking for and would be easy to modify. I think there are some skills for characters in some of the campaign books. Chuck |

you may also want to take a look at these. link They mix a lot from necro and mordheim and the other WWII mods that had been floating around. |

NUTS does not have a detailed where did you hit my tank system but otherwise, fits pretty well. |

Flying Lead from Ganesha are worth a look. Not sure if they are what you are looking for (we all seem to want different things from a period). John |

phoenix command has the masses of detail you want, but I'm not sure if you could still get hold of a copy. |

Both Necromunda-based rules links are not working. I assume Games Workshop hunter-killer bots are roaming the area
