Good to hear, Jeff. A matter of the "squeaky wheel" getting the grease? Perhaps Forge World can now honor the contracts with the others. |

Nice result Jeff – when did that happen? According to the other poster others are still awaiting a result? |
Empgamer | 24 Mar 2011 2:04 p.m. PST |
Glad you got what you were due Jeff. FW get what they deserve with WAB. Worst thing that happened to WAB IMO, FW taking it over, next to it dying a death. Then again, I think it has. No longer bothered personally, won't be pumping more of my money their way. |

@ Bluewillow: or the shocking thing that passes as a Napoleonic ruleset "black powder" IMHO. Hi Matt, I hold the opposite opinion to you on Black Powder, as I think you know. But its clear from reading it, and the Warlord Games forums, that it was a product of many years gaming by Rick and his mates, not dashed off to save time as you go on to suggest. And although I do very much see it as a Napoleonic set of rules, as you say, it is actually supposed to be a generic fast play set of rules for the whole horse and musket period, so I think on both counts you are being a little unfair
Kind Regards, Sparker |

there are more and more players coming in on the Ancients market. Warhammer Historical must be feeling the hot breath down their necks! |

Well, that in itself is good for all wargaming and the Ancients rule sets in particular. There are a few new rule sets coming onto the market that promise to support their players. Warhammer Historical must be feeling the hot breath down their necks! If Forge World was concerned about that, I suppose they would. |

Agreed, UK John. I'm one of those Ancients gamers, and I'm in the search for a ruleset at this very moment. I'd actually played WAB for a long while, and played Ancients using the old WFB 3rd edition rules with scratchbuilt army lists before WAB arrived. Sadly, the Man With The Plan (and the table, and the armies) picked up and moved to a sunny Florida retirement community and took his miniatures with him. He's returning in a week for the wife, but he won't be bringing back his lovely armies I helped paint (poorly), so I have to build my own crap for here on out. Since nobody I know plays WAB besides him and myself (and he has the books as well), and since Warhammer Historical is a folktale told to children to make them play organized sports, I have to find myself a game system around which to build my army
while being unsure what I want to collect. Of course, I could have far greater problems in my life. In fact, I do have far greater problems, which is why I need a flippin' hobby to not dwell on them constantly
and I just forgot what I was intending to add to the discussion and don't think I ever addressed it. |

Salute is now fairly imminent and no mention of the much anticipated AoA release. Prior to WAB2 release I was eagerly awaiting this (even if it dropped from the much vaunted 3 or 4 book release), post WAB2 I was too, but with a certain sense of dread given the way WAB 2 turned out (in terms of the layout/design, potential for 'confusion' and what philosophy might be behind the points system!!!), now WAB 2 sits somewhat dormant, well, shrug. I can't recall how far in advance of Salute FW announced WAB2 (conveniently avoiding any plans they might have for post WAB2 one must say) but I have a feeling it was at least a couple of weeks before.. If it does surface I wonder if they will see fit to amend the current outstanding EIR list or leave it as is ;-) |

Well we might have a chance to get some answers on future plans at Salute by talking to the guys on the stand! |

Hi, I will be looking at Warlords Hail Caesar and Great Escape gamed Clash of Empires at Salute to use instead of WAB 2. clashofempires.co.uk Rich.

Hmmmm. Given the knowledge of the FW staff on the stand with regard to WAB2 last year, I doubt it will be even that good this year. |

I was at Adepticon and I planned on visiting the Forge World booth. "Thanks for completely Effing up a good rules set, you ants!", was what I was going to yell at them and then stomp away. The night before I was in an open elevator, when a rather confused Englishman was deciding whether or not to come in. After I held the door open for him for a minute or so, he joined me. "Sorry", he says. "I'm using alcohol to combat against the jet lag". "Who's winning?", I ask. "It's hard to tell." he answers and exits the elevator as we get to his floor. "Have a great convention", he calls out, over his shoulder. The next day I see him in the vendors area. He is one of the Forge World employees. He now looks jet lagged and hung over, but he is still smiling and helping out the long line of customers. He seems like a really nice guy and I decide not to yell at them after all. He probably knows nothing about WAB2 or AoA, or so I convince myself. Saved me a half hour line up too. |

I like WAB and have the 1st and latest versions. I have most of the available supplements I am interested in. I'd love to get hold of JJ's Successors supplement one day (i.e. if anyone from Forgeworld is reading this – hint :o), Romans , mongols etc – goodness knows what else is out there
I game regularly with a good bunch of mates doing the WAB thing with a touch of fantasy every now and then. I can't see us doing anything else for the forseeable future. I have also managed to combine WHFB and WAB figures – for example Empire & Bretonian fantasy figs can be used for Age of Chivalry. As a result I have bought GW figs for use in both systems. Exec Summary = Please please FW pick up WAB, get the supplements churning and I'd suggest getting the Perry bro's et al. back in line to crank out supplement based plastic mini packs – suckers like me would line up to buy 'em. So its make great business sense and we all come out winners! cheers Gary from Oz |

well the competition is seriously breathing down their neck as Hail Ceasar and Clash of Empires are out. They are going to have to raise their game now! |

And the next publication from Warhammer Historical – Kampfgruppe Normandy ROTFLOL!!!!!! link With the track record on WAB lists I suppose Eastern Front will be scheduled for 2020 and Early War 2030 with many combat units never to see the light of day??? £48.00 GBP too – absolute bargain :-D Not only does this say something for me re WAB but I am a keen WWII gamer too and I have to say with this it will DEFINITELY be a case of "once bitten, twice shy". Not again FW, not again. |
UK John | 13 Apr 2011 4:05 p.m. PST |
£48.00 GBP is good value for a ForgeWorld publication – they usually go for more in the WH40K universe. It will be interesting to see if they take off or if a Black Powder spin off comes along. |
