i do like that – Alien arthropod, clearly not from earth but recognisable and well thought out features. not my scale, but a worthy sculpt. |
RavenscraftCybernetics | 24 Feb 2011 9:44 a.m. PST |
if its alien, how can it not be in scale? |
Covert Walrus | 24 Feb 2011 2:02 p.m. PST |
Ha ha ha . . . oh wow. Ravenscraft, I doubt I could field it as an infantry figure in 6mm is what I meant. And even given different biology to local arthropods, it's a little large for that scale unless I was doing a Moby Dick sort of scenario. Rather like the comment "It's the right period – why can't I use them?" response a local FoW player had when told that his Early War BEF force could not field three Tiger tanks. . . |

Wasn't Alien Suns the Wargames Factory name for the universe containing the plastic Shock Troopers? Is this Tony R's new venture? |
Dunadan | 24 Feb 2011 3:00 p.m. PST |
It is, check the forum. I don't understand all of CelticPagan's secretyness; a cursory glance reveals it to be Mr. Reidy's new venture. |

I'd be very interested to know how this new company is creating models using the name Alien Suns if that is a brand name being used by Wargames Factory to release models. Did WF transfer the brand name over to Reidy? Why do I somehow doubt that? Or if as was asserted, Reidy owns the Alien Suns brand name, what will happen to the Shoulderpad Troopers -- brand name as well as models/moulds? Does this rabbithole have a floor? |

Maybe the slip was a forum for "Alien Suns" run by a moderator called "Tony"
. ;-) Whatever the case, I look forward to seeing what they come up with. Great name for a miniatures company by the way. Especially one formed in the circumstances this one was. |

"Is this Tony R's new venture?" Expect my support
it does have an interesting look
I am having some issue with the head
but I still lie it. Looking forward to seeing more of the same. |

Interesting. I don't do a lot of 28mm gaming anymore, but cool minis seem to find their way home with me just to languish on my painting table, no matter what scale they are. |

Hi All – please do come by the site and let us know what you think of it. We're trying to wrap them up over the next couple days and get them into tooling (USA tooling!) We'll have a formal announcement of the company along with our plans for releases for the next six months within the next few weeks. link
Thanks, Tony |

Tony
the sock puppet
a nice touch with the name
those who have been following the official comments from the wargames factory forum will know about this one
sock puppet
sigh, after all that has happened and then to pull the sock puppet evidence, it was like going to a heavyweight boxing or mixed martial arts event and getting into the ring and there across from you is a 80lb great-grandma
"that's it, that's all you got?". :) And all made in the USA
a good choice that will hopefully result in more control of the issues that will come up with your project. Best of luck and I will be supporting your efforts. French Foreign Legion in space is a fun idea that has been bouncing around in the back of my head for some time. So thanks for that one :) |

Thanks 28mmMan – the Alien Suns setting is something I've been mucking about with since college days
and Defiance gives me the opportunity to really flesh it out. We've been so lucky to have the support of so many people in the industry after what we call The Incident wen down on January 7th. The outflow of positive support from distributors, retailers, and customers has been great. And – adding to the good luck – we've found a truly incredible manufacturing partner within 45 minutes of us! The communication is just unbelievable and we are so excited to be able to work hand-in-hand with them. (Now I know why Warlord, Mantic, and the Perrys LOVE Renedra so much!) Official word coming in a few – but for now please feel free to visit the new site and chime in on what we're doing. Thanks again, Tony |

Oh oh, Je vois mon frère d'armes! Vivent longtemps la légion étrangère! |
BlackWidowPilot | 27 Feb 2011 1:12 p.m. PST |
28, an old friend of our family I've mentioned on these boards before had an opportunity immediately after WW2 ended to join Legion Etranger as an officer. Alain insisted when he first told me his tale that he decided not to, as "I was a little bit afraid
!" I looked at Alain real good, and replied, "Alain, you mean to tell me you turned down a commission as a sous-lieutenant in the Legion Etranger because you were "
a little bit afraid," so instead you joined up with the 14eme Regiment de Chassuers de Parachutists to make *combat drops* over Algeria? Afraid of what, having to make sure everyone else had their uniform creases straight? Give me a break!" At that our dear family friend simply smiled like the lion that just got finished having a romp through the sheep pen and started chuckling, shaking his head. He's around seventy now, and still splits firewood by hand at a pace that would make most people I know drop dead from exhaustion. And people still make jokes about French courage. Leland R. Erickson

"And people still make jokes about French courage.evil grin" There was little left over for the common citizens as the Legionaries had kept it all for themselves :) |
BlackWidowPilot | 27 Feb 2011 11:50 p.m. PST |
"There was little left over for the common citizens as the Legionaries had kept it all for themselves :)" If so, then the DLMs, the DCRs, assorted infantry divisions like the 14eme DI, those reservists at Stonne, the cadets and instructors at the Ecole de Cavalrie, the 67th BCC, et al didn't get the memo

John, cognitive impairment is standard-issue equipment for academics, so don't try to fob it of on anything else! Yes, I took the poll, *and* no, I am not painting geishas nor co-eds, as I'm too busy working on that #@$@!!!! Master's curricula to ponder such weighty matters! I'm as impatient as anyone to see hat Tony and pals come up with with this new venture

I've never doubted the bravery of the individual Frenchman. I have long doubted the competence of politicians! Good to see Tony back up and running again! |
