Is there a website that lists what paint color goes with whatever chapter. I know in some of the SM codices had sort of a list and the painting guides have photos, but is there anything else? |

There are a couple of pages in the ol' Rogue Trader book, or was it the Compendium? Sons of Medusa, Rainbow warriors, etc
'The only true source.' Just out of morbid curiosity, is this really an issue for a lot of 40K players these days? That's not an attack, it's just that I always felt (and still dp) that part of the fun of painting miniatures lies in the ability to choose how you want to paint them
Not that I would play a game with those silly 'hello-kitty' marines either

I have the "early" editions of the Space Marine codices. Which had the x paint + y Paint = z space marine lists in the back of the book. I also have the How to Paint space Marines book, it has photos but not a paint guide. I don't know, I eyeball the photos in the books and my marines sometimes don't look close to the pictures. |

The original RT book had 12 chapters, all single colour with a helmet stripe. Back then the Dark Angels wore black and the Space Wolves grey, not blue-grey. The Compendium has about 40 uniforms including some camoflage patterns for specific campaigns. |

There's a digital tool built into the older Dawn of War video games where you can try out paint schemes. |

The Badab War has at least a dozen space marine chapters in the two volume set with fairly detailed paint schemes for each chapter and subchapter. The various codexes also have various chapters in them with painting examples too. Codex Space Marine covers at least 5, Blood Angels covers an additional 4-6 chapters/successors, as does the Dark Angels codex. There are also older books with plenty of stuff in them, including the Rogue Trader books with lots of the original chapters. |

Rule of thumb: GW won't keep making a color of paint if they can't figure out how to make that color look good on a Space Marine. |

Is that why there's no more Tentacle Pink? |
Lampyridae | 26 Feb 2011 5:37 a.m. PST |
They put a stop to Tentacle Pink because of the proliferation of the Hello Kitty Chapter. |
