For me it has to be the repeated refrain of "needs more boobies". That would embarrass an immature twelve year old boy.

For those of you who think "boobies" are funny or entertaining there's plenty out there on the Interwebs.

But you'll have to get your mother to turn off the parental controls first.

Cue attempted humour featuring members of the Sulidae family.

Jovian115 Feb 2011 12:30 p.m. PST

That and pulling up a topic to show a friend a link and finding said comment profusely strewn across the topic and the link is of a picture of Zardoz.

Space Monkey15 Feb 2011 12:34 p.m. PST

the generally mamby-pamby milquetoast culture that predominates the place… it's a haven for 'sensitive' people.

Amen

I find the posting of soft-core pornographic images that you occasionally find on Frothers far less embarrassing than the puerile sniggering about "boobies" that you get here.

darthfozzywig15 Feb 2011 12:46 p.m. PST

Oh oh! I know the answer to this question:

Most Embarrassing thing about TMP? The members!

Best thing about TMP? The members!

I am offended by such characterizations and feel compelled to hit the complaint button rather than simply ignore the comments or even stifle those making the comments.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Space Monkey15 Feb 2011 12:56 p.m. PST

The general lack of fart jokes.

Is that I actually know some of the "bad" apples on TMP, and they know me!

Yeah the boobies thing is lame (IMHO)

darthfozzywig15 Feb 2011 1:04 p.m. PST

The comment above needs more…wait, he did mention boobies. Whew.

adub7415 Feb 2011 1:23 p.m. PST

boobies are just this years Hitler vs. xyz jokes. Give it time, it too will pass. The trick is to not fuel the silliness.

@ Venusboys3

A Belch is just one gust of wind,
That cometh from thy Heart…
But should it take the downward trend,
It turns into a Fart

EDIT This probably does not help the discussion much.In time it will pass you by and all will be good.Like a breath of fresh air.

Spot on, Derek.

I will agree. My days of posting on TMP are coming to an end, which is a shame since I have been here a long time and have enjoyed it until the last several months.

TMP has become either amazingly juvenile or snarky.

Rogzombie Fezian15 Feb 2011 3:45 p.m. PST

People complaining abot how immature certain miniatures or games are. Its usually things of a sexual nature.
We are grown men playing with little soldiers and things, think about it, lol.

Mrs Pumblechook15 Feb 2011 5:16 p.m. PST

Its full of wargamers?

CraigSpiel15 Feb 2011 5:23 p.m. PST

Emabarassing about TMP: I once quoted some medical advice/facts I read here once to my wife. From that point on she refered to this as my "quack' gamer website.

Playing games with toy soldiers is quite possible for adults.

Finding "boobies" funny is something that the vast majority of males (I hesitate to use the word men in this particular context) grow out of by the time they enter their teens.

Quite pathetic.

14Bore15 Feb 2011 6:11 p.m. PST

Derek@ you're right, its funny once or twice but its old now

Wouldn't you have already checked that link and seen that it was Zardoz before pulling up the topic to show a friend?

John the OFM15 Feb 2011 7:40 p.m. PST

I am 60 years old. If I ever grow up, I will stop with the "needs more boobies" cracks.

Really? On what planet? Do you even look at modern advertising?

Space Monkey15 Feb 2011 9:21 p.m. PST

I'm indifferent to the 'boobies' issue… but find the people offended/annoyed by it to be quite amusing… along with their admonishments that others should 'grow up'.

Ranger32215 Feb 2011 9:27 p.m. PST

Just from a "newbie" perspective…There do seem to be a lot of whiners around here who object to the slightest thing. Are these the same people who cry when they lose to an opponent who spent more time worrying about their army than worrying about what somewhat said on TMP?

Personal logo Inari7 Supporting Member of TMP15 Feb 2011 9:37 p.m. PST

It could be worse……

For example: Thats a great miniature of a scantly clad oversized miniature of female from company ABC, FOR ME TO POOP ON!!

There could be links to Furries instead of Zardoz.

No.

DocMagus16 Feb 2011 5:34 a.m. PST

Oddly, I don't get embarrassed by things said in the TMP school yard. Like the kids at school do, the latest trendy one liner or word is used to death then gets replaced by the next thing. When it gets a little racy they all giggle because they "know" what it really means.
Right now it's boobies, for a while it was "what if" polls. In a group of mostly men, the fart joke or some beer joke will always make a return. what will be next? give the kids time, it will come.

Martin Rapier16 Feb 2011 5:40 a.m. PST

It would be very dull if everyone agreed.

There are some things I find embarrassing on TMP, but I suspect they are cultural differences about how we view events in the past and individual contributions to them. 'Misty eyed reverence' for want of a better term, but not really worth getting steamed up about.

The boobies thing is just juvenile, although Zardoz is quite amusing. I suspect some boobies are ironic however.

Klebert L Hall16 Feb 2011 7:16 a.m. PST

Meh.
Things that imaginary "people" on the internet do don't embarrass me.
-Kle.

pphalen16 Feb 2011 7:56 a.m. PST

Based upon any of the reactions any time someone posts a picture of even a moderately attractive woman on the cover of a rulebook, I'd say that most of the "men" here are not over an obsession woth boobies…

richarDISNEY16 Feb 2011 8:06 a.m. PST

"Needs more boobies" is a way to simply show that I do not have the faintest interest in what you are asking or saying. However if you want something so bad that you go through the trouble of requesting a Poll -then go ahead If I vote needs more boobies it is not a vote for or against and not a no opinion. It is an expression that I clearly could care less which is an opinion. Another reason in order to qualify for the polls prizes you have to participate in a poll this allows participation but has no effect on results.

IMO This is the expression that has sort of been agreed on to express disinterest so please live with it.

doublesix6616 Feb 2011 10:57 a.m. PST

Nothings quite a bad as reading "SFX" magazine where they usually have an head where the bottom of the E might be and you have to explain that its an film/TV magazine to people. not a "S E X" magazine which is hard somethings when it has a large picture of some actress in costume on the front :)

vojvoda16 Feb 2011 1:32 p.m. PST

Isn't boobies the Plural form of Boob, which TMP often is full of.

As noted above: the most embarrassing thing about TMP is all the TMPers.

Dasher03 Mar 2011 12:10 p.m. PST

Wow, I sure hope I'm not embarassing anyone by my presence.
Wait, no, I don't.
Most anoying thing about TMP?
People (other than Bill, who owns it) thining TMP is their own personal venue for expression solely as they see fit.
I really don't care if, once in a while, someone kicks off a harmless bit of humor or even runs with it a furlong too far now and then.
TMP = Hobby Forum
Hobby = Fun
Fun = Not taking everything so seriously that a heart attack will ensue if personal definitions of absolute protocol are not observed.
Let's all step back a bit and build a little bridge to get over ourselves, shall we?
