Perry plastic figs are well priced and reasonably well sculpted. Does anyone know if they'll ever do their samurai line in plastic? I recall hearing a rumor about it some time ago (2+ years) but haven't found anything. M. |

It would be nice if they could and I would buy them but they already do a large metal range and in effect would be competing against themselves ML |

If metals prices keep climbing, I imagine sooner, rather than later

It's a little late for Perry Miniatures to come out with plastics after all the money I just spent on 28-mm Japanese Samurai/Medieval Koreans! Given the large Samurai range, I just don't see Perry coming out with plastic samurai. But I could be wrong. However, I'm done with my infantry and cavalry forces. Though it would be rather cool to get some 28-mm Japanese and Korean naval vessels to do some large scale naval battles from the Imjin War. Blake |

But they do a pretty decent Sudan range as well and they are coming out with plastic fuzzies. I don't know if they will or not but it certainly is not out of the question. |

It is hard to imagine them doing a line of 28mm plastic samurai an ashigaru, however they already did lines in 28mm that I would not have thought would have done all that well. |

"sculpt it, and they will come" |

When they released their 1st plastic box, they mentioned that they couldn't get enough detail to make proper samurai armor
yet. |

"competing against themselves" Have heard this a few times regarding plastic makers doing the same figures in plastic and metal. Not sure I understand. Besides, they do this with their napoleonic and ACW plastics. |

What Pentaro said
. Samurai armour is decidedly fiddly stuff, and the basic geometry of a 2-part metal mould with no undercuts makes it nigh-on impossible, if not quite there. |

Well, I'm not going to pretend I know anything about molds :/ But if they say they can't, then I believe it. I suppose Ahshigaru might be possible though? I've seen ashigaru sets and they don't have any of the really fiddly texture I am used to seeing on samurai-grade sets at large. I'd really like to see some extreme close ups of their metal samurai; probably should have ordered some when I put in for my plastic WOTR stuff. M. |

Yeah Ashigaru would be straight-forward by comparison; whether they'd be viable as a plastic release with only metal samurai available may well be another matter though. |

I would love to see the Perrys do plastic samurai! |

I hope they won't. I'd be too tempted. |

Even most of the basic armours worn by the poor samurai and ashigaru have some kind of lacing, and the lacing is specifically what they said that they can't do properly in plastics. We'll see, maybe the tools are better in 5 or ten years. |

Sure they will – an Ashigaru set with interchangeable arms for either spears or bows – just like their WotR set. The set will have various types of back banners, including those cool double & triple banners. A sprue will also have some great army standard devices – you supply your own staff (brass or steel rods). Finally, it will have a nice full-color painting guide with most of the major clans. |

More properly, you need expensive multi-part molds to do some of that detail, which means you need to sell a lot more of whatever item it is. That said, I expect they will do plastic samurai *eventually.* It's just too bad I'm halfway done moving to 15mm already! |
