I'm composing a review of different 28mm Colonial Marine miniatures. Since the Leading Edge official releases are long OOP and cost far too much, I'm wondering if someone would be willing to send me a few pictures (possibly with size comparison) to help make the review that little bit more complete. I did this before with my Aliens review, scroll down a bit for the piece about Eureka's Chaos Weasels: link Stuff that's currently to be added to the review: LE Colonial Marines Woodbine Marines em-4/Copplestone troopers em-4 plastic troopers ERM Colonial Marines GW Cadians Denizen Mid-tech Hasslefree pulse rifle types Kryomek Colonial Marines Fenryll Scifi troopers Anything I've missed? Not looking to make a "generic scifi soldiers" review, but focusing on minis that are stylistically very close to the marines in Aliens (helmets, body armour and so on). |

Check the Denizen range – photos of them are on their website. |

GZG has several that might work – Oceanians and maybe NAC Marines might fit the bill. Rob |

1st Corps. Not the standard sci fi infantry-scouts I believe? |

Vor Union troopers look the part as well |

What about the Wargames Factory Sci-Fi greatcoats (assuming that Wargames Factory continues to exist – I hope so!) – I am using them with the Cadian arms and they are great |

Thanks for the tips! The 1st Corps in particular were a good find. The VOR stuff might be as well, will have to think about that. The WF greatcoats are far too unlike Colonial Marines (remember that this is what I'm looking for gearwise: picture ). |

The results will be interesting to see once you've done the comparison. I don't have anything to add to what's above, nor any pics right now, but I have the VOR figs around someplace, packed up. They seemed a bit more generic sci-fi/near-future soldier than USCMC looking, as I recall. |

Aberrant Games CSO troopers: link Painted up right they are great. |

(remember that this is what I'm looking for gearwise: picture ). That lot woudn't last five minutes against an alien. The GW Cadians don't really look anything like Colonial Marines. |

The GW Cadians don't really look anything like Colonial Marines. Hmm, you might actually be right, there. I remembered them being a lot more CM-ish! |

These guys are very obviously inspired by the USCM: link |

Indeed. They're the "Woodbine Marines", #2 on the list above. |

manatic: Oh, didn't know that. Never mind, then.. |

Imperial Guard are easily convertable to look more Colonial Marine. Their uniforms and body armour are a little different, but the helmets just need the drop down eyepiece and bam! You get a slightly more upgraded looking Colonial Marine helmet. Though, I'd recommend getting some Hasslefree's loose pulse guns to convert them. I have a couple odd little extra IG carrying pulse rifles to use for SST as Light Armour M.I. proxies. I would recommend the LAMI from the SST game, but they're OOP, disappointingly bad poses and sculpts and I regret sinking nearly $200 USD to get a ahold of 40 of them. Worst investment ever
but I'll keep them for the nostalgic(OOP really.) value. Lol. |
