"And if the Russian team gets through to the pristine waters, they hope to encounter life forms that have never been seen." Is it just me, or do they not see the negative side of this? There must be a SciFi Channel rule about this occasion. Michael |

15,000,000 year old creaters from the deep. Can it end well. |

i hope to high heven that theve sorted out the contamination risk, if we go blundering in, and kill everything there it will be a catastrophie of the first water. |

pfff steelpenguin fear not. If there is one thing the Russians are good at its

What 28 mm figures do you think would be the handiest to represent the Russian expedition? For the things lurking beneath the ice, there is already a plenty of selection out there. |

For the Russians? Laurel and Hardy. I doubt they've really worked out the problems of preventing contamination or containing new pathogens. Especially if the are 'rushing to complete the driling'. |

Don't worry the lube they are using for their drill will instantly kill anything living down there. |
SeattleGamer | 28 Jan 2011 8:21 p.m. PST |
For the Russian explorers, I suggest lots and lots of heavy parka-wearing casualty figures, some missing their heads or other limbs. There will be no need for creature minis. |

I fail to see the concern of chemical poisoning. This lake is as big as lake Ontario. If they were using pure arsenic for a drill lube it wouldn't have any noticeable effect. beyond maybe a few hundred yards at most. |

No, the concern was they were using oil-based Lube that is a paradise for some types of Bacteria and that the whole thing they were looking for – an environment with lifeforms sealed off for 40 zillion years – would be contaminated bt the Bacteria in the lube. And Cthulu. Pat |

I'm glad they didn't find some alien spaceship with some type of life-form that takes over it's host on a molecular level and only seeks to convert all other life it comes into contact with. Hmmmm
I hope John Carpenter hasn't come up with a plot like this yet
j/k. Surprised no one else jumped on this obvious line of thought
