I started looking into Quarter Scale doll house supplies after the posting about 'Brown Plastic furniture' on our list a while back. It seems that in the Doll House hobby, 1/48 scale is getting bigger all the time. As a result we are starting to see building kits like the one in the link below.

These building have interiors-which suits the needs of many gamers!

There also appears to be a healthy amount of furniture and accessories available. This material strikes me as useful for both Pulp and Horror gaming in 28mm.

Has anyone purchased building models intended for 1/48 doll houses yet? Opinions and reviews would be welcome!

Hmmm, my (now) nearest model railroad store also doubles as a doll house store – may need to work up the nerve to visit the 'other half' now!

I have the the cheep plastic furniture and looks spot on with todays 28 to 30mm figures. Not seen any of the stuff in the link you posted. But it looks very cool.

I have a few packages of the plastic furniture. they are called 'mini dollhouse furniture'. They are blister packed and pre-painted. They go for around 2 bucks a pack. They are ideal for interior encounters in 28 mil.
The houses seem intriguing, a nice cross-over thing. Thanks for the heads up Mr Murch. Oh, I would wouldn't dare to game any pulp scenario without a fist-full of your fine figures. Yep, I'm a fan.

I am currently building an Edwardian style dining room for the Frothers Unite game at Salute (28mm Cthulhu meets Cluedo game) – my furniture making skills at this scale are rudimentary to say the least so all this sounds very interesting! I have seen the buildings link before and they look great.

Captain Beefheart – I don't suppose there is a website for those blisters…………I have trawled the pounds shops and toy shops in my area (UK based) to no avail.

Oh, ditto on Pulp minis – never a dull moment with them in tow!

Tried the Yahoo Group but mentioned the '28mm' word…..here was the reply after being rejected……

Gentlemen,
Much discussion has taken place trying to determine if it is in the best interest in the Quarter Connection to accept gamers as members.

While we are quarter scalers our primary focus is on dollhouse miniatures.
It is the general opinion that if non-dollhouse miniaturists were permitted to join our group it could easily lose its primary focus and quite possibly many of our members.

That has led to the decision that it is in the best interest of our members to decline your application to The Quarter Connection.

I felt that it was best to let you know our preferences rather than to just let the applications expire.
Thank you for your interest in our group. We wish you luck in locating a 1:48 miniature group that will provide the items of interest that you are seeking.

Sorry, guys. I joined this group the same day that I posted this topic, and then today found they had un-subscribed me for the above reason as well. The doll house people seem somewhat skittish when it comes to our un-ruly bunch.

I'm not sure if its really a great loss as we should be able to find any 1/48 scale doll house supplies that suit our needs and then communicate any such 'finds' to each other here but I do find it somewhat amusing that we got tossed out as 'undesirables'.

By the way, don't mention "gaming" if you should try to join the "QuarterConnection" yahoo! group – they seem to be paranoid about what might happen should they let gamers join, in a kind of prejudiced "there goes the neighborhood way".

In fact, it is almost as if we were members of an "undesirable" ethno-cultural group that wanted to move into a neighborhood of racists…

Of course, they could simply have put new members on moderation, and seen how things went, but I suppose that writing their pompous message is all the effort that they may want to invest in dealing with gamers.

Bob Murch30 Jan 2011 11:09 p.m. PST

I encourage anyone who tried to join not take the rejection too seriously. My letter back to the moderator was polite in a 'being gentle with Aunty' kinda way. If we get snarky with them it would likely just confirm their negative opinion of gamers.

Of course my wife and son are still rolling on the floor in laughter that Dad got kicked out of a 'Doll House' Yahoo group.

Hurtful!

I have visions of Bob spying on the Yahoo Quarter Scalers' activities, muttering to himself while arranging and rearranging his 28mm troops in preparation for a full scale assault! "Charge, me lads! Let 'em taste cold steel fer breakfast! Take none o' them mealy-mouthed doll-playin' sissy-men alive--no quarter!" (pun intended)

Bob Murch31 Jan 2011 11:13 p.m. PST

capncarp, you were mostly correct but you missed the part where I issed orders to capture that nice set of 1/4 scale rosewood dinning room furniture intact since it would go so nicely in my mountain-top castle of Doom.

Guys They donīt know what they are missing, maybe the aunts would suddenly push aside the flower beds to make way for an AT gun emplacement and started to replace curtains with camo nets etc…

Then yes perhaps they would see the light and go into quarter scale wargaming who knows…

For me as some of you know I started producing 1/48 figures, but now will go into 28mm given the marketīs demand…:( itīs the way of the world

Anyway here is my site and blog for you who are still into 1/48 : 33mm to 40mm depending on how tall they are…

Do you guys use 1/48 soldiers at all?
If so what brands?

Stewbags16 Nov 2011 4:04 a.m. PST

That stuff looks useful for sooooo many games, and those houses are pretty cheap too.

This is a huge find. I am excited about ordering some of the store fronts!
