Very curious. What kind of stats? Is there an example? And how is basing done? |

Stats: Type (Foot Melee, Mounted Missile, Mounted Skirmish, Artillery, etc) Movement (based on type/armor) Rep (THW standard there) Armor Specials (Pikes, Stakes, Flying, etc
) Figures (the number of figures on the stands is important) As far as basing, a consistent frontage is recommended, but basing is fairly loose. Heroes and Magic users are based on half-size infantry bases (one of each per army max). |

Also, each unit type has a number – the core army is made up of those units. So undead armies have a core of 6 infantry, 1 archer and 1 cavalry. All the core armies come out to about 200 points. If you go above that number of points, you don't choose from the list but roll randomly – there is a column for what you get on each roll. Keep rolling and adding units until you hit the points limit for the game you're playing. So an army is partly fixed and partly random. The number of figures in each unit type is also fixed, and being outnumbered in combat gives penalties to certain rolls. Hits are counted against the unit's Reputation though, not the number of figures on the stand, so you there's some leeway for ignoring the number of figures required. The lists for human nations also tell you which historical army the list is modelled on (everything from Assyrian to Italian Condotta). There's the usual list of fantasy suspects, but my first impression was that some of the fantasy armies lacked a bit of variety – for example, the undead have only the three unit types I listed above. Not got my copy to hand, so all the above comes with an IIRC warning. |

There are a lot of army lists (40?) and the means to make more. Standard basing is 40mm wide, but I use 80mm and it still works with standard movement distances. |

Also, there are instructions for creating your own list if your vision of your fantasy army doesn't match any of the lists provided. However, there is a lot of variety in the lists. |

Recommends the standard WRG/DBx base widths – 40mm for 15mm & 60mm for 25/28mm. I use 3" width bases since most of my fantasy figures are based on 1" bases. |

So one is basically stuck with the army lists the rules supply? Or is there a system for designing and consting new units? I find that one of the most important aspects of fantasy wargames rules. |

Yes you can design your own lists. |

Here's the sample Army List from the rules. PDF link There's currently another 150 lists being worked on. RRtK can be played with any figures in any scale and based any way. Heck, we even offer a set of paper armies for those that want to get into the game at little cost. It's very easy to design your armies. I prefer to use the figures Ii already have and design a list based on that. Just swap them out. Example- I want my heavy infantry to be veterans with heavy armor and axe. Sounds like Dwarves so I go to their list and pull the stats.I want some average light cavalry with bow so go to the Mangu list and grab the stats. Hope this makes sense. |

There's currently another 150 lists being worked on. That's not enough Ed. You can't possibly cover all of the world and 3000 years of history with 190 army lists! |
