Hello all I've had for several years 8 scratchbuilt 15mm Galleys that I was thinking of selling.

Each Galley is painted differently and each has a small number of figures(all painted) for crew/marines and there's also some small bolt throwers as well.

So a couple of questions I want to throw out there is:

1.Should I sell them all together or sell them as singles?

2.Depending on which way I choose what do you think I could sell them for?

Any advice would be very grateful.

I can also provide pictures if needed just let me know where to send them.

Thanks
Captain Gideon

My advice for what it is worth! :-)
(1) Sell them together if you can. Saves you being left with the odd one you can't get rid of.
(2) Well the simple answer is whatever someone is prepared to pay for them. Given that Langton sells unpainted 1/300 galleys for around £17.00 GBP I would have thought £30.00 GBP each would be reasonable, but that depends on how much interest you get and if you are keen to get rid of them or just looking to make a bit of extra cash. These must be fairly substantial models, I assume, 20-25" long.
I'd love to see the pics. You can email them to me ae_res at yahoo dot com.

my advice: List them on ebay on one of their promotional 0 listing fee weekends. Start the auction at the lowest price you're willing to sell for.

If they don't sell you lose nothing except time, and you find out the market value of them if they do sell.

Thanks for the advice guys.

My statement is not related to highlandbevan in any way:

The problem with ebay is, that there is no fixed market value (this is a general problem with small layers of potential buyers, eg. when selling items that only appeal to a small number of people.)

The trick is: Can you reach those people, will they look at ebay (+ search for what you put them up for), did they look in the category you thought they would look in etc.

Its really complicated and I do not believe the notion that ebay would yield something like the "market price" is right. I would even go so far as to say that there is a general problem in popular understanding of economics in assuming that there is an allmighty entity called "the market" that appears in its unadulterated form any time a transaction in sone and then dictates the prices, thereby ruling every economic decision.

hwarang you're quite right about ebay there's one other site called Bartertown which I've used several times in the past and it works quite well.

The thing about Bartertown is that it's about trust when you're buying, selling or trading stuff there.

I've had 5 such situations where I bought or traded something, and all 5 have worked out quite nicely.

The other thing regarding the ships is how to pack them since if I did sell them and had to ship them somewhere packing them has to be very good since everything is really fragile(mostly the oars).

There is one other option I can do and that is take the ships to a local gaming convention and sell them at the flea market.

This way I won't have to worry about trying to ship them as they would be gone.

One other question I have for you good people is what should I sell them for?

If anyone would like some pics let know your email address and I can send you some pics of these ships.
