Very nice. I've seen the technique of creating the look of rivets by embossing before, but your use of granny grating to facilitate even spacing is inspired!

Is granny grating the same stuff used for some sort of embroidering and/or some sort of yarn-related craft? If so, the only stuff I find is in a square grid.

Thanks for all the kind words!

@cfielitz – it's the same stuff. The one with square grids is indeed more popular from what I've seen – but try to look for 'Darice 14 count plastic canvas' or just 'Darice' (it's the manufacturer's name).

@endrju94-thanks for the info! I'll see if Hobby Lobby or Michael's carries it, if not, I'll order it.

I use a steel ruler and a pattern wheel. Easy as all get out and saves LOTS of wear and tear on your hands, elbow grease, etc.

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. I don't know this person, or anything about this seller, just linked to it because of the pics.

Just place a steel rule along the lone where you want rivets, and roll the wheel along it.

I use what they call a "pounce wheel", which is the same thing that TKindred is referring to, I believe. I have some pics of a scratchbuilt Epic Ork Mega-Gargant that I built a few years ago that show how the rivets turned out; I'll go see if I can find them in my Photobucket account.
