How is it possible for this to go on so long? |
Gazzola | 20 Feb 2011 7:47 a.m. PST |
It has been going on for so long because certain parties refused to change. Myself and other posters have requested Mr. Hollins to move on,a s Kevin did long ago, and stop using this site to continue his grudge war based on someone daring to say something negative about his past work. That seems years ago but he still kept bringing it up. And if someone dared to criticise his work or postings, his followers jumped in and attacked whoever made the posting, while Mr. Hollins suggested people ignore those making questions he didn't like. He has recently answered some basic Austrian questions, which is what he used to be respected for. Hopefully, Mr. Hollins has, at last, moved on and this thread will end. But it would have ended a long time ago, had Mr. Hollins acted more like a gentleman. I have nothing against Mr. Hollins, who had actually helped me in the past, and I hope he has called off his one man war now, for everyone's sake, especially his own. This is not a bait but a plea for progress. |

John, Well said. Sincerely, Kevin |

@Gazzola You had me fooled there. I thought you were being sanctimonious until you delivered the punchline: "This is not a bait but a plea for progress." That's priceless. I never realised you had such a dry sense of humour. |

The Thread has moved on in that we are now able to contemplate the relationship between Queen Anne and Sarah Churchill – and suddenly my interest is rekindled

SJDonovan It was meant in total seriousness. But I can well understand why you might not believe it, because it is often hard to believe anything anyone says at times in certain threads. But I repeat, I was being serious. I really do hope that things have progressed and that, from now on, Mr. Hollins can prove he has moved on by sticking to answering questions relating to Austrian matters. I'm sure that will please everyone. It will certainly please me and I am sure it will please you. |

Actually I've always suspected that Marlborough was either underrated or overrated. IIRC the Englsh / British component of the armies that won Blenheim etc was a minority with most of the troops being provided by Austria. That's about all I know. Read about him when I was, I dunno, 11, and that would be about it. Can anyone suggest any reading? |

Thanks Dave. I always wondered why Churchill put in so much of the yammering of the women, but the queen's mood change seems to have changed everything. A long peace followed, too. You know 4th Cuir that may be joking but it does bring this thing full circle back to the OP wanting to know more about Peter Hofschroer, in the first place with the Christmas gift. |

Mekeinborg@ That would be a fitting way to end this |

Can I just add that Chandler always said that he was more interested in Marlborough than N, despite how it may seem (including having that bizarre affliction of only being able to speak French just after he had his stroke). Osprey already have a Commander on Marlborough – jokingly I suggested one on Eugen, but was rather slapped down! link |

Maybe the joking got you shot down, Eugen is a fascinating character |

Chandler – it was said that the Emperor had finally taken him over! |
