What kind of music do you like while playing "Empire"? (Personally, I prefer absolute quite in a darkened room, a cold cloth over my eyes, and acetaminophen. Lots of acetominophen.) But try this: YouTube link (Enjoy the unwanted advertising; it's sorta like TMP!) Allen |

Fittingly, the "unwanted advertising" I got was an Arm & Hammer ad, touting the benefits of sprinkling baking soda over cat litter boxes

Curiously, I just finished scooping the cat litter boxes, and found that I had run out of Arm & Hammer litter box deodorizer. Allen |

Continuing my trend of treating each question seriously, I usually like to put a DVD in as background noise/music but otherwise I put Echos des Epoch Imperiale, some Prussian and Austrians marches and some pipers on shuffle for "mood music." I have background music for pretty much all the periods I play. Sets the tone and cuts back on unrelated chit-chat. |

My idea is to take your favorite war movies and make a tape of them. I understand that is a little prehistoric, but sure is fun. For example, the begining of mine starts with parts of Gamble's brigade holding during the movie Gettysburg, followed by the Grande Battery firing in the movie Waterloo. I usually will throw in some good lines from Rod Steiger, too. Then Last of the Mochians with their battles, followed by the charge from Glory. Next would probably be the British cavalry charge from Waterloo, etc. See where I am going with this? Eventually, you get alot of screaming and yelling going on, mixed in with periodic artillery salvos, and some period music. For good measure, Beethoven is usually at hand, as let's face it. The music is good for about the first hour, then we all get lost in rules and calculations, fist pumping and dice rolling. Anything to set the mood works
your call. One of my favorite parts in the tape is from Waterloo when the Household cavalry is charging and Soult says "they are the noblest cavalry in Europe, and the worst led". Nappy says "that may be, that may be". Pause as three artillery salvos go off. "But, we'll match them with our lancers". |
