William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and all that. The missus likes the period, so maybe, just maybe this is the way in to gaming for her. I found the ebob Rebellion line. Loving the minis on his site. Anyone else do the period? |

The Scots v. English are a very nice set of opponents in DBA and Big Battle DBA. |

In 15mm, Feudal Castings (now QRF) has an excellent range of medieval Scots. |

And it's not a rebellion, rebellion is against lawful authority, and despite claims to the contrary; as a separate and independent country, Scotland couldn't be in rebellion against England. It's generally known as the first Anglo-Scottish War. |

Edward I certainly saw it as a rebellion, but my Scottish friends would take umbrage at that description, so Anglo Scottish Wars is certainly safer. As an Englishman living in Scotland I find the history of the period fascinating. Wargaming it you have the option of going for the purist research based angle or the Braveheart pulp version. Some of Ebobs figures fit into the latter category. Whichever approach you take have fun with the project |

We will be William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and this whole period this coming year under our Vanguard Men-at-Arms Range of 40mm figures. Check out our Web site at miniatureservicecenter.com |

I like "Medieval Warfare" by Terry Gore for this period. There are scenarios out there for Sterling Bridge and Falkirk already written for the rules as well. |

You'll be asking me to call WW2 the Great Patriotic War and the American War of Independence the Revolutionary War next |

Wars of independence
any early HYW figures will do the trick for either side..up to 1332 (art least) the majority of English or Sottish troops should be spearmen with a minimum of a long padded jack and a helmet. |

I really like Scheltrum Miniatures a lot for the Scots. They have a lot of character and good variety. |

Poi000 – Ebob 'Scottish pikes' will do nicely for either side, but the range as a whole is pretty useless I'm, afraid, however there are plenty of good figures to be had; the main thing is to remember that there was no visual difference between English and Scottish troops and that most of the fighting was between small units of men-at-arms ('knights' in DBA terms. |

Who wrote them? I tried to google them and nothing came up. I would love to find out more about them. Thanks |

Lovely painting Blue Willow – as usual. You might want to think about longer spears and for a WofI army definitely rather more modern armour, but those are (IMO – it's a little bit early for me) just spot-on for the 1260s. Have you tried Michael Brown's book 'The Black Douglases'- it's the definitive work, though it does focus more on the 14th-15th century stuff, chiefly because the Douglases were n't a big deal politically until after 1315/1320. |
